Judge John Coughenour came out with the following statement after issuing a preliminary injunction on Trumps executive order for ending birthright citizenship.

"It has become ever more apparent that to our president, the rule of law is but an impediment to his policy goals.

The rule of law is, according to him, something to navigate around or simply ignore, whether that be for political or personal gain…

There are moments in the world's history where people look back and ask, ‘Where were the lawyers, where were the judges?" Coughenour said.

"In these moments, the rule of law becomes especially vulnerable. I refuse to let that beacon go dark today."

Reading the Special Counsel’s report on Trump’s criminal efforts to retain power, I’m just profoundly sad. Sad, not bcuz the 130 page report details Trump’s criminal efforts to overturn an American election. No. Sad bcuz the American people don’t care. They. Don’t. Care. And I never thought that would happen here. Not HERE. I never thought THE AMERICAN PEOPLE would be ok with someone who refused to accept election results and then tried to hold onto power. I thought WE would always care about that. But I was wrong. We don’t care. In fact, we just reelected the traitor.

That’s why I’m profoundly sad. I just can’t get past the fact that we don’t care.

We are deeply saddened by the loss of Luis Tiant.

Anyone who met him, on or off the mound, knew he was a true force. A fixture of Fenway and Fort Myers well beyond his playing days, El Tiante was family.

We send our love to his wife, Maria, their children, and grandchildren.
