@grantcohn Many Australian sporting minds are already turning to the coming cricket season. Teams are either the national team, 6 state based teams or 8 franchised city based teams, depending on the level or type of cricket. Get on board Grant!
#rihlive in the last couple of decades the traditional heroic view of Australian history has been pitted against a “black armband” revisionist narrative, often for political purposes. Is this a global trend?
@allanpatrick@GeromanAT That is a bet you would lose. The Soviets sold all the Ukrainian grain (including famously the seed grain for next year’s crop) to the west and used the money to buy capital goods - from the west.
@englandcricket@CricketAus Poor old England. Had all the advantages - best batting conditions, home grounds, home crowd, bullying media, no Lyon, new balls from umpires - still couldn’t win the ashes.
@englandcricket@lv Some respite after the 3rd test, but now with a draw it is cricket at fault! We need sixth days, or to play all night, to get the “right” result.
Imagine if they lose the fifth test! Media & fans will tear them limb from limb, & the grim reality failure will eat them for years.
@englandcricket@lv I worry for these guys if they lose the fifth test.
After the first loss, it was denial - “we feel like we won”.
After the second loss a villain was needed - enter spirit of cricket, same old Aussie’s, blah blah blah.
