"This is our culture. They are coming to our country. They should adjust."
Doesn't this seem like entitlement that demands one-way respect and understanding?
Yes, pogo and mosh pits are part of Argentina’s culture. But there are kids, elderly and foreigners attending. Idol concerts especially BTS' have a very wide range of audience. There are anecdotes of people by the dozens being brought to the medic, anecdotes of attendees saying the shoving and pushing over were brutal.
BTS wasn't asking people to stop jumping and having the time of their life. From the stage, they could see what was happening. They did not want geople getting crushed. Their legitimate safety concerns should not be dismissed, or worse, mocked.
And how can we forget, BTS knows well how deadly crowd crush can be. Just four years ago, South Korea experienced the deadliest crowd crush and the second deadliest mass-casualty in their country's history in Itaewon. 159 deaths and 196 injuries.
The boys' concerns were not selfish. They were for the actual audience already getting hurt and might get hurt. They have every right express concern. How can we turn that care into something negative?
And if anything happens, who will bear the blame, the guilt? We already know BTS, the artist, would be the one blamed. Not the culture.
We hope the people who demand respect and understanding also extend the same and look at the other side, the possible consequences.
Safety is a priority. People ought to take it seriously.
