One of the most brutal scenes in human history has been exposed.
Israeli soldiers opened fire on thousands of starving Gazans as they ran in desperation for a piece of food during the war on Gaza.
A moment the world must never forget.
Sticking strictly to Africa, there is no African nation and no generation of African children that can be honestly said to have benefited from colonization. Any claim to the contrary relies on selective memory, moral gymnastics, or comparisons that ignore the scale, intent, and brutality of what was done to Africa.
African colonization was not about development — it was about extraction, domination, and dehumanization.
Here are the uncontestable realities:
* Millions were uprooted, enslaved, massacred, and brutalized across the continent.
* Entire societies were restructured to serve European economies, not African futures.
* Borders were artificially drawn, deliberately pitting ethnic groups against one another — a strategy of divide and rule whose consequences persist today.
* Languages, spiritual systems, governance models, and identities were erased or criminalized.
* Education, where it existed, was designed to produce clerks and intermediaries — not free, self-determining thinkers.
To argue that Africa “benefited” because of railways, schools, or administration is to ignore who those systems were built for and who paid the price. Infrastructure that exists to move stolen resources is not development. Schools that teach self-erasure are not progress.
And yes — Ethiopia is a powerful and painful example.
Ethiopia’s resistance to European colonization did not spare it from punishment. Instead, it paid — and continues to pay — through:
* relentless external interference,
* engineered regime changes,
* proxy conflicts,
* and sustained efforts to destabilize and fragment the nation from within.
Resisting colonial rule did not earn Ethiopia respect; it earned resentment. The cost of independence has been continuous pressure to weaken sovereignty, a pattern repeated across Africa whenever nations refuse to submit fully.
So no — it is not ironic to reject comparisons to Vietnam or Asia. It is necessary. Africa’s colonization was distinct in its scale, racial ideology, and systematic dismantling of civilizations. Comparing it elsewhere without acknowledging that difference is not analysis — it is erasure.
Colonization did not give Africa anything.
It took, and it keeps taking:
* culture,
* language,
* identity,
* stability,
* and generations of stolen possibility.
That truth does not need softening. Do better colonized mind! 🙄
Trump’s Jan 16, 2026 letter to Sisi reads like Cairo’s script, almost line by line.
He opens by praising Sisi for mediating a Gaza ceasefire and frames it as “personal friendship” with Egypt. Then he pivots straight into the Nile file and says he is ready to restart U.S. mediation between Egypt and Ethiopia to “responsibly resolve” the question of “Nile Water Sharing” once and for all.
Here is what he puts on the table, and it is exactly Egypt’s preferred framing:
1) He centers Egypt’s “deep significance” claim about the Nile and says the U.S. wants an outcome that “assures the water needs” of Egypt, Sudan, and Ethiopia.
2) He declares the U.S. role should be strong in “monitoring and coordinating between parties.” That is the supervision model Cairo has been begging for.
3) He demands “predictable water releases during droughts and prolonged dry years for Egypt and the Sudan.” That is the red-line language Egypt repeats every day.
4) He repeats the line that “no state should unilaterally control” the Nile and “disadvantage its neighbors.” That is the moral framing Egypt uses to paint Ethiopia as the aggressor.
5) He sells a tradeoff: Ethiopia can generate electricity, and some of it could be “given or sold” to Egypt and Sudan.
6) He adds the scare line: he hopes the GERD dispute will not lead to “major military conflict.”
He even CC’s Saudi and UAE leadership, plus Ethiopia and Sudan, to widen pressure.
What is missing is just as loud as what is included: Ethiopia’s sovereign development rights are not a favor from anyone. GERD is already built. The era of downstream veto politics is over.
If the U.S. wants to help, fine. Start with reality. No one gets a colonial-era veto. No one gets to supervise Ethiopia’s river like a landlord. Equity and mutual benefit, or nothing.
My view: @AbiyAhmedAli should personally reach out immediately to Israeli PM Netanyahu and before Cairo’s narrative hardens into U.S. policy and Ethiopia is forced to react instead of lead.

With horrific overnight airstrikes killing mostly Palestinian women & children trapped in a displacement camp in #Rafah,the State of Israel continues to violate international law with impunity and in contempt of an ICJ ruling two days ago ordering an end to its military action in Rafah. The ICJ order must be urgently enforced if global order is to prevail. #Ceasefire now.
Ethiopia: Families reunited as intra-country flights resume between Addis Ababa & Mekelle. This was available before the launch of the regime-change war + 100k’s dead.
Former President of https://t.co/C8zaGhOYAX, Thabo Mbeki reminisces the glaring history of Ethiopians, hence Africans against the infamous" Scramble of Africa ". How Free are we all now is the question still not fully answered. https://t.co/v2R6VQ3uOY
Ethiopia Starts Exporting Electricity To Kenya. Great news for #Ethiopia & Horn of Africa. Selling #electricity from the GERD to its neighbors. Will Biden & Blinken congratulate #PMAbiy?
Ethiopia's peace agreement and cessation of hostilities mean rebuilding can now begin. Renewed access to AGOA benefits would help Ethiopia’s economy, exporters, and workers. I urge Ambassador Tai to consider initiating an out-of-cycle review regarding Ethiopia’s eligibility.
