Because industry-wise, women are underrepresented. That's why when it comes to female acts, usually soloist, female groups/duos (I believe sometimes mixed group but female fronted kasama din). They collectively serve as a representation for women in the industry. Kaya meron din tayong separate events dedicated to women, such as Women in Music, and why Billboard even has separate all-time charts for female artists only.

On the other hand, since men dominate the industry, there is no equivalent concept of "male representation". Male artists are often seen as individuals rather than representatives of their gender because their presence in the industry is already the norm. Their success is typically attributed to their own merit rather than being framed as part of a broader push for representation.

As we track the Spotify PH artists chart, clearly makikita talaga natin na OPM female artists are underrepresented. May mga times na halos less than five OPM female artists lang ang nasa top 200. That's why we decided to include female groups in the female chart to fill the gap.

Also pinakamalakas talaga ang groups & bands na all male members. If we will combine groups on male charts, it will just be the same acts appearing in the group charts all over again. To be honest, that's boring. Plus, up-and-coming artists wouldn't even have the chance to enter. I know we're all into numbers and stats, but charts are fun and more variety makes them more exciting and engaging for everyone. 😊
