When training HS athletes rule #1 through 98 is Athlete safety. Rule #99 is Train consistently to help reduce injuries. Rule #100 is to improve sport performance!
The goal is training is not to produce survivors, rather it is to produce adaptable athlete who will thrive in the rigors of the competitive arena. It demands making the training program fit the athlete not the other way around.
The beauty of track and field is there's no faking it, no hiding behind teammates on rough days. You're exposed, vulnerable. It's you, alone, out on that track.
This sport will humble you, even those who are among the top in the world.
