Gone far too soon at just 43 🕊️
Japanese voice actress Asami Yaguchi, best known as the longtime voice of Kuchipatchi in the Tamagotchi! franchise, has passed away.
Across more than two decades in the industry, her voice also became part of Gintama as young Gintoki Sakata, Black Lagoon as Sawyer the Cleaner, Doraemon as Haruo, Dies irae as Eleonore von Wittenburg, Super Robot Wars OG as Katina Tarask, and even Avatar: The Last Airbender, where she voiced young Bumi in the Japanese dub.
For many fans, however, Kuchipatchi will always be the character most closely tied to her voice, making her part of the childhood memories of an entire generation of Tamagotchi! viewers. Her agency mourned her passing with the painful sentiment that 43 was simply too soon.
Rest in peace, Asami Yaguchi. The voice may be gone, but the characters she brought to life will continue speaking to fans for years to come. 🕊️
