THE AMERICANS STOP DOING MEMES
That is the condition. That is the stated diplomatic precondition for restarting trade talks between two sovereign nations.
Sir. You have forty one million people in your entire country. There are going to be more memes than that by Thursday. Every man, woman and child in Canada is getting one personally addressed to them, and some of you are getting two.
You did not draw a red line. You placed an order.
Now let me explain your negotiating position, using a car.
You have a car for sale. It is not a beautiful car. It has some rust, the heater works when it feels like it, and you are asking well above book.
There is exactly one buyer in the entire country. One. He lives next door, he has a garage full of cars already, he does not need yours, and both of you know it.
But you have told your girlfriend you are getting a great price. You said it out loud. So now you are standing in the driveway performing toughness for an audience of one who is not the buyer.
He offers. You say no, and add a condition about his behaviour.
He offers less.
You call him a bully in front of the neighbours. He offers less again, and mentions he is thinking of renaming the lake at the end of your street.
And here is the part you already know at two in the morning. You are going to take whatever he offers, because he is the only man on the road with a chequebook, and every day you spend defending your dignity the number goes down.
Doug Ford, meanwhile, has been in the driveway the whole time shouting about turning off the man's electricity, which is worth about a quarter million dollars a day against an economy that produces eighty billion in that same period.
Beauty, eh.
The two of you have become Doug and Bob McKenzie negotiating a trade agreement. Take off, you hoser, we are not selling you the crude. Good day.
Except in Strange Brew the boys accidentally end up owning the brewery, and Canada is not going to accidentally end up owning the refineries, because they are all in Texas and Louisiana and we bought them fair and square.
You have four hundred nineteen billion in goods going south every year. Seventy seven percent of your exports have exactly one destination. Your best province ranks twentieth against American states and Ontario is forty eighth, behind Alabama.
And your opening move was to demand we stop posting.
Mark, my friend, that is not leverage. That is a man in a driveway explaining to the only buyer on earth why he should feel bad about himself.
Take the deal.
And get the elbows down before somebody makes a meme about that too.

IT TOOK JUST ONE DAY OF MEME WAR WITH AMERICA FOR CARNEY AND LIBERALS TO SURRENDER.
Mark Carney just stood in Ottawa and begged the United States to stop doing memes.
Not stop the tariffs.
Not stop Lake America.
Stop. The. Memes.
That’s the official position of the Prime Minister of Canada: talks resume when America stops hurting Liberal feelings on the internet.
We already showed you the Canadian Army video. Softness. Tender feelings. A fighting force more worried about getting a late night snack than getting ready. The liberal side didn’t need a battle. They needed a meme free safe space.
One day of American memes and Carney tapped out like a man who just discovered the comment section.
He says the memes change you.
He’s right.
They changed him into the guy asking the world’s most powerful country to please be less funny so he can come back to the table with his dignity intact. Elbows up!
I have exclusive footage of Mark Carney attempting to meme us!
Hey @MarkJCarney you had enough yet?
I think we’ll keep making them for a few more months loser!
