A few years ago I interviewed Scott Fawcett on a podcast I was on, I asked him that question because I was running stats models for the Tour and I thought it was crazy people were using one or two rounds to make determinations about players. Might have to watch it back but I'm fairly certain he said for pros they need to see 8 *events* worth of data to be confident outliers aren't skewing the data.
Especially in detailed strokes gained analysis, just one or two shots (either insanely good or insanely bad) can skew SG averages for quite a while.
Financials of stuff like this would be interesting to see.
Heard workers say they had a hard time getting vendors in this week because of low attendance numbers. I was there on Saturday and unless it was Nelly's group you could pretty much stand right next to the players, so that checks out. The line to get one of these $13 beers was incredibly long though, and there weren't many stations. It's an interesting game of supply/demand.
In about a month we'll probably be buying beers for about the same price at the 3M. People will complain about those prices too. They'll have bigger crowds, more tents and shorter lines as well.
Is the $13 beer and $14 sandwich a fair price? Probably not, but I'd be interested to see how it fits into the finances of those events. Higher f&b prices should allow for ability to spend to make the fan experience better- and in that case we should be happy to pay it. But is that what they're doing? Or are they just taking the extra profit and running with it? Maybe it's a little of both
Guy getting killed for the grips in the comments. I'd put those on my clubs tomorrow if I could find them, tough crowd. Also that is a toddler sized putter
@_consistentgolf Always will amaze me people just cannot help themselves if they see a ball that isn't theirs. First instinct is to pick it up instead of consider where it came from
@BLanVancity@MidwestGolfJake Exact same with mine, I got a few rounds in though before mine cracked. So far the r7 I got as a replacement has been good!
@ryanmouquegolf It is quite amazing how often people will just pick balls up without even thinking or looking around. Actual golfers. Not surprised at all people would pick them up at a pro event 🤣
@engineeringolf Idk if this is good news or bad news but you're probably going to get a few extra clicks from the non-golf crowd wondering about shaft school as well 🤣
