A lot of this can be explained by what happens when you abandon people to an ongoing pandemic because you are bored of caring. There is no scenario where the majority does that and it doesn't result in these things. Community built on abandonment does not and can not exist.

i really do think people are just so bored, so unfulfilled, so lonely, and so ran down by the rat race and total lack of community that they look for any person/group of people to blame so they dont have to do any real reflection on why they feel so empty
