A "transition to democracy" is not the same thing as a "democratic transition." Wordplay? No.
It is a distinction that local politicians are incapable of understanding, obsessed as they are with getting to power quickly. They want to convince you that an election is the same thing as rebuilding a state, recovering a devastated economy, restoring public services, attracting investment, and reforming institutions.

After 27 years of failure, they are still reselling the same formula. They lost the country, they lost the institutions, they lost the economy, they lost millions of Venezuelans, and they still believe the solution is to organize a rally and a ballot box and expect a different result.

Suppose your father arrives at Trauma Shock with acute peritonitis. His intestine has ruptured, he has a systemic infection, and he is entering sepsis. If he is not operated on immediately, he dies. No doctor sends him home with an antispasmodic and a humanitarian speech to preserve his normal life. The physician with the most experience, authority, and ability to make difficult decisions takes control. Nobody elects him, least of all the patient. He is not perfect, nor is he the world's greatest professor of medicine. He is the one available right now. He has the family sign a release. They open the abdomen, remove the infected tissue, and connect the patient to specialized equipment under medications that are imposed, not consulted. For weeks he does not live a normal life because the priority is that he does not die.

Surgery is NOT Health. Surgery is the path back to Health.

Now imagine a bankrupt company. It owes millions of dollars, cannot make payroll, banks are pursuing it, suppliers have stopped shipping goods, and it is on the verge of collapse. Creditors, banks, and shareholders do not organize an election among employees to choose the nicest CEO, the most charismatic CEO, or the one with the best marketing. They search for the best turnaround specialist they can find. Someone skilled and experienced, with the authority to impose difficult decisions and save the company. That team in command renegotiates debt, liquidates assets, lays people off, shuts down money-losing operations, and reorganizes the company to prevent collapse. During that period the company does not operate under normal conditions because it is fighting for survival.

Restructuring is NOT the healthy company. Restructuring is the path back to the healthy company.

Nobody evaluates the surgeon based on his charm or on pretty slogans like "Yes we can!" They evaluate him on whether he saved the dying patient or not.

Nobody evaluates the turnaround specialist based on emotional speeches like "Until the end!", his suits, or his popularity. They evaluate him on whether he saved the company or not.

When both finish, they leave and may never be seen again. They did their job and nobody will reward them. Or they failed and they will be punished.

The legitimacy of both — surgeon and turnaround specialist — comes from results. Nothing else.

The same thing happens with countries.

Spain did not go from Franco's death to democracy overnight. Franco died in 1975, but the Francoist military remained, the Francoist institutions remained, and the Francoist laws remained. It was figures that emerged from within the Francoist system who dismantled the Francoist regime and led Spain toward democracy. Spaniards from every side understood this.

Chile did not wake up democratic the day after the 1988 plebiscite either. Pinochet remained commander of the Army for years, the regime remained in place, and the military kept its share of power. Chile's transition did not begin as a democracy. It began as a process designed to avoid a traumatic rupture and guide the country toward democracy. Chileans from every side understood this.

Venezuela does not have an electoral problem. It has a national collapse problem. The state is destroyed, public services are destroyed, infrastructure is destroyed, the oil industry is devastated, and millions of Venezuelans left the country. Pretending that all of this can be solved with an election is like pretending to cure peritonitis with an aspirin, save a bankrupt company with financial aid, or rebuild Spain with a vote the day after Franco died.

So far, the surgeon is Trump. The turnaround specialist is Trump. And whoever Trump chooses.

The tragedy of Venezuela is that the opposition class still thinks like candidates or resistance leaders, not like a government. It keeps thinking, incorrectly, in terms of campaigns, candidacies, political deals, and elections while the country, under Trump, faces a reconstruction challenge.

That is why I propose a National Reconstruction Council (CRN) and a Constitutional Statute for the Reconstruction of the Republic (ECRR). The CRN would be the temporary team responsible for stabilizing and rebuilding the country. The ECRR would be the set of rules for carrying out that reconstruction.

The legitimacy of the CRN would not come from an election. It would come from restoring order, security, electricity, and water; recovering production; dollarizing the economy; attracting investment; creating jobs; reforming institutions into minimally functional entities; and rebuilding Venezuela. Then they go home and never return to politics.

An election can change a government in a normal country. Only RECONSTRUCTION can change a country.

When a nation is in ICU, the question is not who wins an election. The question is who can save the patient.

📢 El estratega político @JJRENDON afirmó en entrevista con @ovierablanco que Delcy Rodríguez, encargada del régimen, no tiene ninguna posibilidad de ganar una elección en el país. Durante una entrevista en estudio con Orlando Viera-Blanco, Rendón enfatizó que "ni logrando un milagro" la encargada del régimen chavista tendría una oportunidad.

⚠️ Asimismo, el asesor advirtió que las fuerzas del chavismo sobrevivirán como minoría en democracia, proyectando que tras una transición obtendrían un porcentaje mínimo en gobernaciones y alcaldías.
