Virginia is reporting up to 10 cases of cyclosporiasis, a stomach parasite that can cause severe diarrhea and has infected people in 17 states so far, according to the CDC.

The CDC said 145 people nationwide have gotten sick between May 1 and June 16. Twenty people have been hospitalized, but no deaths have been reported.

A significant criminal justice reform took effect in Virginia on July 1.

SB 136/HB 149 creates a pathway for individuals on supervised probation who have complied with their conditions to be considered for early termination after 12 months. The law could impact up to 53,000 Virginians, with courts retaining final approval.

The legislation was backed by REFORM Alliance, co-founded by Jay-Z (@sc), @MeekMill Mill, and others, as part of a broader effort to reward rehabilitation and modernize probation policies.
