Alberta has a long history of welcoming a responsible and sustainable number of newcomers to our province who come here, get a job, build a life, and contribute to our province.

Unfortunately, over the last 10 years the federal system has let temporary programs grow far beyond what they were designed for, and it’s putting pressure on the housing, schools and health care every family relies on. Temporary residents contribute about $150 million to our tax base annually, yet the cost to provide services for them is over $1 billion. It’s simply not fair to Alberta taxpayers.

The Prime Minister can’t seem to get his story straight about the “associate membership,” “unique alliance,” or whatever else he is negotiating with the EU.

Conservatives are clear: we support the decades-old free trade & NATO defence alliance with Europe.

The Prime Minister promised free trade in Canada by Canada Day last year. It was all show and no go.

We still have federal barriers to interprovincial trade a year and a half after he promised one Canadian economy.

He not only broke his promise, he also hiked taxes and piled on extra costs for Canadian liquor producers.
