@Quasilocal@SpinVector Very few of them might write this frankly. Therefore it is highly important to give all students a number of alternative lecture books already from the beginning
@Quasilocal@SpinVector I am trying to ask you to learn that 2%
Of your students have to work five times harder than most your students. Because we need to read text in our own way in order to learn
@Quasilocal@SpinVector Whenever we are asking questions, a typical answer is again constructed as if we were normal. If the teachers at least give us the original articles, we could read how the researchers thought. Why is this important? What is logical for you is not always logical for me.
@Quasilocal@SpinVector How could a student fetch the most relevant articles before understanding the central ideas of a disciplin. I am writing because I know many artistic students have had similar experience. Teachers love to write that we should understand certain ideas, because ...
@Quasilocal@SpinVector We need to have highly detailed lecture books, in order to obtain the logics behind each method. In addition, we need to read original scholarly articles to learn why an idea is relevant. I do not like to be incarcerated within the syllable list of a course.
@Quasilocal@SpinVector We are depends on readings. Since most of us often think in different paths, therefore an instructive lectures are impossible to follow. On the other hand, many of us thrive if we are liberated from traditional lectures and in class discussions.
@Quasilocal@SpinVector I think you only have majority of students kin mind when comments upon the importance of lectures. I am challenging you to think from the autistic students' aspects.
@Quasilocal@SpinVector Of course more assignments, without page limitations and the number of possible solutions. Let the students enjoy their library time, as if they were all as free as Thoreau.
@Quasilocal@SpinVector Thirdly, I value my academic liberty highly. Therefore I hate taking a teacher's view as the only "truth". There is a reason why Diderot is still relevant today. He encouraged us to discover our own truth. A teacher should not act as a priest who has the right to Interpret ideas.
@Quasilocal@SpinVector Secondly, I want to understand the limitations of the theory. I esteem a teacher's grade lowly. Instead I enjoy pondering upon the applicability of a theory or method by imagining in which contexts I could use what I just learned and why. For this reason, reading is fun.
@Quasilocal@SpinVector Not the same thing, I think you have misunderstood me. As a student, most teachers give us one or two books, rarely the original articles. Before we have surveyed the field, it is hard for us to select text books which are written by authors who have worked in different fields.
@SpinVector@Quasilocal To read the books and articles, written by an array of people, gives everyone a more profound intellectual stimulation. At the end, the aim of academic studies is to immense yourself in an intellectual adventure. The only path is academic liberty and engineering innovation.
@SpinVector@Quasilocal I think you need to have more confidence in students. Instead of trying to explain the guiding principles in accordance with your understanding, you could ask them to read lecture books by themselves. In the online lectures, you could present how methods are used pragmatically.
