35 driver’s licensing offices are not enough.
Ohio has 181.
Indiana has 125.
Tennessee has 159.
How on earth would 35 locations ever be enough for a Commonwealth with a population of 4.5 million people?
We had a system in all 120 counties that worked perfectly fine for 88 years, and we can all agree that what we’re doing now is not working. Fortunately, the legislature is now in Session and several proposals have been put forth to fix the problem.
HB 162 moves the issuance of driver’s licenses back to the Circuit Clerks in all 120 counties.
SB 7 has passed in the Senate Transportation Committee and will be voted on in the Senate on Friday. It allows the Transportation Cabinet to enter into agreements with counties that do not have a regional office to permit one of the following entities to issue driver’s license renewals, if they choose to do so: a county clerk, circuit clerk, sheriff, or judge executive. It establishes a $25 convenience fee and would only pertain to renewals, duplicates, and Personal IDs— not CDLs or REAL ID.
A newly filed bill, HB 332, operates similarly to SB 7, but it requires the Transportation Cabinet to identify a local official or local governmental entity in each county to participate in the system by July 1, 2027. It allows the local entity to establish a convenience fee, but it doesn’t set the rate. It would cover issuance, renewal, and duplicates of operator’s licenses, but not CDLs or REAL ID.
The good news is, lawmakers in both Chambers are motivated to fix this problem. I’ll be keeping a close eye on this issue as the legislative process progresses.
@OdyseeTeam@OdyseeHelp I have a question for you.
Can I upload a video to odysee without the block chain Gimmick?
Because the whole block chain gimmick is hard for me to figure out.
