There is a physical type that Elon Musk has dated with a consistency that borders on algorithmic. Slim. Pale skinned. Angular features. Dark or reddish hair. Under 30 at the start of the relationship. The type is so consistent that when photographs of his partners are placed side by side, the resemblance between women who have never met is uncanny. The man who disrupts every industry has never once disrupted his type.

Justine Wilson: brunette, slim, sharp features, 24 when they began dating. Talulah Riley: brunette (later auburn), slim, angular face, 22 when she met Elon. Amber Heard: blonde but angular features, slim, 29. Grimes: pale, thin, ethereal features, 30 but looked 22. Shivon Zilis: dark haired, slim, classic bone structure. The women are different in personality, career, background, culture, and ambition. They are remarkably similar in physical presentation.

The consistency reveals something about the nature of attraction in a mind that operates like Elon's. Physical attraction, for most people, varies across a spectrum. Different people are attracted to different types at different stages of life. Elon's type has not evolved in 25 years of dating. The type was set early and has not been updated. The same way his taste in books (science fiction, physics) was set in childhood and never changed, his physical attraction template was established before wealth, fame, or access to virtually any partner on earth altered the selection.

The detail that makes this uncomfortable: the type he selects for does not correlate with relationship success. Every woman who matched the type eventually left. The type is the entry filter. It is not a predictor of compatibility. The man selects the same input and receives the same output and has not updated the filter based on results.

A man who iterates rockets based on flight data, who redesigns factories based on production data, and who reformulates business strategy based on market data has not updated his partner selection criteria based on 5 consecutive relationship failures. The engineering mind that applies data to every decision applies no data to the one decision it keeps getting wrong.

The type has never changed. The type has never worked. The type will not change. The pattern is not a preference. It is a compulsion that operates below the level where data reaches.
