#CDSWeek24: It's time for community dentistry to be prioritised.
Our #CDSVision for England is a call to action from CDS dentists themselves on how to end a crisis that has gone under the radar of decision makers for too long.

Today, we asked rail engineer and expert @GarethDennis to explain how he’d rework Sheffield's network to solve some of our biggest problems.
Using existing lines, adding some stations and introducing new trains, he’s knocked together a plan to make our rail a lot more useful.

How does oral health of adults with learning disabilities compare with the general population?
A study just published in @CDHJournal led by @jmbird_ with myself @zmarshman & Kate Jones attempts to answer this question.
We used national data from a supplementary survey conducted alongside the Adult Dental Health Survey in 2009.
We found a number of key differences in oral health, and highlight the many challenges in collecting data for this patient population.
The importance of inclusive research methods is highlighted to ensure the views and oral health needs of adults with learning disabilities are met.

Our 'Was Not Brought' (WNB) toolkit has been further extended to help dental teams safeguard adults at risk of harm (AAR) if they miss dental appointments.

Thank you @TheBDA for supporting this. The new purple pathway helps dental teams to protect adults at risk by providing a framework to follow when these patients are not brought to their dental appointments.
Out now: #WasNotBrought adults at risk (WNB-AAR) ‘purple pathway’ added to @TheBDA toolkit. Thanks to my CDS & #specialcaredentistry colleagues, including @jmbird_ & Jo Adlington, for adapting this from #WNBCYP and to the BDA for making it available 💜

Great to hear about exciting (funded) peer review opportunities from @HouldingKathryn and learn how practices can become mentally healthy together from @PsynergyMind at this evening's Sheffield LDC CPD event. Was also a real pleasure to talk about autism and dentistry!
Pleased to stay dry on #CycleToWorkDay, even with a slight detour via an Edward VIII postbox on the way home! Modal filters like those on Little London Rd make commuting by bike much safer and more enjoyable 👍🏻👍🏻
