@MariaArriola4 @latimes The problem was how the director executed her critique. She chose to film children doing extremely sexual dance routines while zooming in on their crotches. She exploited children in a twisted effort to say we shouldn't exploit children.

@BihStopThis @latimes Well, except for the fact that the filmmakers and director have all acknowledged that the dancing was supposed to appear 'sexual'. You're right that there is nothing inherently sexual about a preteen unless someone makes it so. In this case, it was the adults that made this film.

@AshRendar82 @latimes Hollywood casts adults who look young to play underage children all the time. This way you have someone with more acting experience and maturity without actually having to cast children. Daniel Day Lewis was 32 when he played a 17 year old disabled kid in 'My Left Foot'.

@LuYunong Me and many others have seen news stories that featured clips of the dance routines without having to watch the movie itself. The dancing is extremely disturbing and exploitive to have children act out in front of a camera. It completely nullifies any 'message' the movie has.

@LuYunong @latimes I saw a news story that showed some clips of the dancing. Without a doubt, it was disgusting and exploitive. Lots have folks have seen the same clips without having to watch the movie. When I was kid, dance routines like that were not nearly as prevalent as today.
