@elawreads Some elementary schools have Glee, a musical club or class for students. It’s a required special for 4th graders in the school where I work, almost like a weekly music class. And in some schools it’s an elective. Often concerts are involved.
Finally read this important & wonderfully written book by @KyleLukoff & @GavinGrimmVA with illustrations by J Yang — looking forward to sharing it with my kids. My oldest was lucky enough to have Kyle as a school librarian. I’m continually impressed by his words & work.
I’ve always enjoyed reading these debut blog interviews and now I’m the one being interviewed! It’s surreal 😍 Thank you so much, @SusannaLHill

Kirby had it easy.
Until he had to play.
If the display ball can let the fun of the fastest growing sport cushion his fears, Kirby might feel more like a teammate than a target.

Daughter & dad have tandem surfed since beach grass tickled the child’s shoulders; now MC must ride waves independently or risk losing confidence bigger than the ocean.
Realistic fiction #PB inspired by my kids learning to surf complete with a surfing glossary.

@Jessicawhippl17 I think so! Now that my boys are elementary age, my go-to gift for their friends is a gift card to a local bookstore. Sometimes I add in a gift card for ice cream, too!
