When you adjust for Wolfsburg being at best a "bottom half" Bundesliga attack (which I guess you can argue Daghim contributed to), there's so much potential with his data.

- dribble/carrying, usage as an outlet, and oop contributions were all exceedingly above the team median
- end product was still meh, but some signs of life considering his penalty area entries and npxG

Herein lies the big potential component: wingers that haven't made it click final product wise (often not anywhere close) but demonstrate a monstrous physical ceiling and impact with "high effort" actions, offer asymmetric upside bets because they're still able to contribute even if the end product doesn't click, and if it does, its crazy valuable.

The median outcome is comparable to a player with excellent technique but a lower physical level, as there are elements that need to be compensated for in their profile, but the high end outcomes are greater, because tech can be refined, but athleticism cannot... ya either have it or you don't.

Similar medians, higher potential = asymmetric upside.

The Bundesliga is gracious enough to share some physical data, so we know for a fact he's a freak athlete: 4th fastest top speed in the league this season, somewhere in the top 5 (maybe first) for sprints p90.

When looking at a dataset I can filter, the second image is the list of u21 wide attackers to hit the following checks:

- 900+ minutes in a T5 league season since 18/19
- dribble rate of 25%+
- long pass rec rate of 10%+
- 4.0+ poss adj. defensive + aerial duels won p90

Aggressive dribblers, used as outlets, physical.

The list has a wide variety of results:

- wingers that had a poor season after a big step but turned into killers: Vini (2019), Doku (2021)
- wingers that turned into really solid contributors, even if not killers: Martinelli (2021), Adeyemi (2023)
- wingers pre big move, still TBD on how they'll scale but things look promising to me: Barcola (2022), Minteh (both 2024 and 2025), Toure (2025)
- physical specimens that made their mark more as a forward than a true wide winger: Thuram (2018), Ouattara (multiple seasons)
- pre-breakout bets targeted by teams who's talent eval I rate highly: Rodriguez (before his move to Como), Diao (at Como)
- those that haven't worked out: Oristanio (2023), Koleosho (2023, still holding a candle for him though), Diallo (2023, probably more of a wing back)

All of these paths are in Daghim's range of outcomes considering what he showed in ~1,500 minutes last season, and what his physical floor offers.

I think the Thuram/Ouattara route is looking the most likely relative to how you would assume the distribution unfolds.

Plus the qualitative datapoint that Hoffenheim is interested, and they have a great recent track record of IDing and developing explosive wingers (Bazoumana Toure the prime example).

All this to say, I'm quietly very excited about Daghim.
