Amazing how someone can turn a 15 second clip into a character evaluation.
I played for Coach Glasco both collegiately and professionally. I’d run through a wall for him all over again.
He cared about us.
He showed up for us as people.
Sure he taught me how to be a great hitter, but coaching is more than skills & strategy. It carries life lessons.
This is a man who was patient with me while recovering from an injury that kept me off the field. It wasn’t my best decision, but he understood.
This is a man who made sure I had somewhere to go for Thanksgiving while I recovered from knee surgery & couldn’t be with my family.
He coaches hard. Holds you accountable. But that’s what all great coaches do.
You can debate strategy all you want.
But questioning his character, our how much he cares about his athletes is a battle you will lose with anyone who’s actually played for him.
Hey everyone just a heads up that the content is over from Oklahoma City.
Thanks to everyone for following along.
I had a blast this week.
College Softball is a flat out awesome sport, and I’ll be cheering hard for Texas Tech tomorrow from home. #WreckEm
Content Update:
UCLA shattered the NCAA’s single-season home run record this year with 209
Tonight (7pm live on Instagram) Jason Williams, Steve, and I will bat on a college softball field until we hit 210
…and then someone must get a hit off a college pitcher for us to leave
Sincere congratulations to Texas Tech. They played better softball than we did and they earned the WCWS Final.
Great season for Patrick Murphy, Jocelyn Briski, Brooke Wells, Alexis Pupillo and company when no one expected it.
Legendary run. So proud of this team. #RollTide
As a former athlete I know how hard she’s beating herself up, she doesn’t need everyone else to beat her too!
Take a whole team to win and a whole team to lose! Just a bad combination of more errors and less offensive hitting/running!
Shake it off and learn from it! 🫶🏻
Seeing a lot of emotional takes on the Alabama softball losses to Texas Tech, most specifically around the two-run HR in Game 1 that went over our left fielder's glove.
I think there's room for more nuance.
No, I don't think we need to publicly blame and crucify her for that play, nor do I think she is lazy or terrible. She also isn't the only player who contributed meaningfully in the loss. Our ace pitcher didn't have her best stuff that game. We had a runner thrown out for being too aggressive on the base paths, etc. Ideally we don't put a runner on base and then give up a hit that clears the outfield wall, either.
And at the end of the day, even in the rev share/NIL era, it's just a game. They won. We lost. That's life sometimes. I think it's a bit lame to go out of your way to slam her, especially if you make it personal in terms of her character or pin the entire responsibility on her.
On the other hand, society has gotten so soft now that some people angrily contend that no one is allowed to even be honest/truthful or even a little critical in a non-personal way. And I think that's lame also.
The bottom line is she should have made the catch. It wasn't the worst mistake I've seen in the field even in this NCAA Tournament (I remember a certain routine outfield fly ball that we dropped over a communication issue). It wasn't the easiest play ... but one that should have been made. It was a critical situation. For whatever reason, she didn't jump when she needed to. Not always the easiest thing to do when dealing with an outfield wall while tracking the ball, but definitely a play Bama needed.
Being honest about that, or as a fan being frustrated that the home run didn't go our way and played a role in the season ending, doesn't warrant personal attacks either.
Sports don't always go the way we want. And players are not always perfect. Just because you don't like a play or what an athlete did on a particular play for a team you root for, it doesn't make you a bad person. That's part of sports, and in certain cases, we have gotten too soft.
I think there's a middle ground that I wish more people would find.
Frustrating play that didn't go our way. Should have made the catch. Was costly. Wasn't the only thing that cost us yesterday. Tough end to a remarkable season.
This is just for the record; if my tide loses again tonight, I am for the Texas longhorns to win it all in softball again cause I’m so sick of certain schools using NIL and the portal in crazy ways. Texas Tech softball is equal to Ohio State in football. It’s ruining sports!
@TexasTechSB Traitor Pannell just can't hang with the Lady Vols. The TTU All-Stars are no match for a true team that plays for each other instead of NIL deals.
The Texas Tech/Alabama crowd is doing an activity where the announcer has them turn on their flashlight and wave right to left
Jason Williams: They’re lucky Roll Tide Willie ain’t here cause he don’t know his right from his left
It's an absolute shame that the game to go to the championship series is played 30 minutes apart from each other.
For softball to put the BEST product on the field with a stadium at MAX CAPACITY, these games should be on separate days.
These student athletes deserve better.
