⚠ MONKEY D. LUFFY HAS OFFICIALLY BEEN IMMORTALIZED IN SCIENCE! ⚠
A team of entomologists has named a new genus of rove beetles, Luffy, after Monkey D. Luffy from One Piece! They also described two new species within the genus:
🪲 Luffy schillhammeri – named in honor of Austrian entomologist Dr. Harald Schillhammer, who first recognized this distinctive lineage of beetles but never had the chance to formally describe it.
🪲 Luffy nika – a direct reference to Luffy's Gear 5 awakening, with its pale hairs reminding the researchers of his iconic white-haired "Nika" form.
The researchers explained that the genus name Luffy was inspired by the beetles' unusually elongated antennae, palps, and mandibles, which reminded them of Luffy's incredible stretching abilities.
It's amazing to see One Piece leave its mark beyond anime and manga—Luffy's name is now officially part of scientific history! 👒🔥
I bet Luffy himself would absolutely love this tribute because he loves bugs! 😁
@SReminal Official name is Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA), not sure if there is more casual way to name it. I think people just call it "sword fights" or "historical fencing".
