PS6 handheld will make no difference because:
It will be expensive
It will be digital only in a market that still values physical.
The 3rd party games JP gamers care about will be also be on Switch 2.
Nintendo has Mario, Zelda, Animal Crossing, Smash, Kirby, Pikmin, Fire Emblem..
I have a deeper understanding why Playstation is no longer big in Japan after looking in stores and talking to people:
- Prices are not affordable anymore, especially when the yen is weaker
- Sony gave up on Japan over the years, especially when they moved HQ from Tokyo to California (this was a huge slap on the face)
- Playstation is not presence anywhere, it's hard to find Sony stuff in general while Nintendo you can't miss for example
- Their first party output doesn't appeal to the Japanese gamer
- No real handheld options as of now but will change with the PS6 gen
- They don't go aggressive on 3rd party games anymore that appeal to japanese gamers like they did before
Button line is Sony needs to have a handheld option with games that appeal to Japanese gamers at a affordable price. And have a bigger presence everywhere, marketing and appeal
Here's the other points he missed:
PS has been in decline in JP since PS3.
3rd party IP like FF, RE, etc are no longer "kingmakers" in Japan which is why SQEX and Capcom are releasing their games D/D on Switch 2.
An entire generation of children have grown up without PS in Japan.
@NintenDeenYT Don't crumple like cheap suit and retreat to your retrospectives the moment the Switch 2 gets a viral sensation. Me and my "ilk" cannot make you more successful or help your channel. Grow a fucking backbone and continue the grift!! lol
Almost a year since the infamous Direct... Maybe it's finally time to shake things up a bit ๐ค. I'd still cover S2 news. Would just have to balance it a bit.

Bloomberg: Sony Pulls Back From PlayStation Games on PC
Online games (Marathon, Marvel Tokon) will still be released on multiple platforms, but single player games (Ghost of Yotei, Saros) will remain PS5 exclusive.
