Four men have been jailed for life for their part in a conspiracy to murder a man in Coventry.

Mohammed Khan, Nicholas Buckley, Alyxander Fraser and Adam Bhayat were involved in a plot to shoot an 18-year-old in a car park in Gosford Street in September last year.

On the day of the shooting the four met up and travelled towards the scene, with Bhayat driving Buckley and Fraser to the car park.

Once there, Buckley got out and fired a shotgun at the teenager leaving him with serious, but not fatal head injuries.

It was only the incompetence of the group that saved their victim's life.

Immediately after the shooting, the trio fled in a stolen VW Golf, later meeting up again with Khan and staying in his flat before going their separate ways the next morning.

In the wake of the shooting our officers began a detailed investigation involving examining hours of CCTV footage.

All four men were identified and arrested a short time later and charged with conspiracy to commit murder.

The four were convicted in May this year and sentenced as follows on 4 September.

Mohammed Khan, 32, of Branksome Road, Coventry, jailed for life with a minimum of 20 years.

Nicholas Buckley, 36, of Broomfield Place, Coventry, jailed for life with a minimum of 22 years.

Alyxander Fraser, 35, of Rhyl, Denbighshire, jailed for life with a minimum of 18 years.
