ROSETTA UNIVERSE (57 sec): For All Kids from K to Gray — Critical Thinking & Problem-Solving —— Hi, I’m Dr. Joel A. Freeman, the Founder of the Rosetta Universe®. Join us in transforming this ancient artifact — the Rosetta Stone — into a modern metaphor for critical thinking and problem-solving — https://t.co/DLCqSnoSol — Call me with any wisdom and advice: 410-991-9718.
The Rosetta Universe is utilizing important elements of the epic historical drama of the Rosetta Stone as a gateway to invite kids of all ages to use their God-given brains before, during, and after engaging technology.
Young people today are overloaded with information, but most do not have a roadmap for the practical use of that knowledge.
By turning thinking into a simple 7-step ROSETTA process, we are making it feel doable rather than intimidating.
It shifts the focus from being smart to being disciplined, which is a game-changer for many students who struggle.
Our reach is for the following grade bands: K-2, 3-5, 6-8, 9-12, college, and beyond.
Give me a call: 410-991-9718. Looking forward to our conversation.

SWIMMING POOL and lazy river in our HOA in MYRTLE BEACH. Came today to swim laps and we had it to ourselves. This is a pretty common experience once school starts. The kiddie pool with slide and water splashing everywhere is an especially fun destination for the grandkids when they’re here.
We have exclusive access to the 32-acre Silver Lake, which is great for boating. The shoreline to the right is lined with lily pads and trees. Perfect for bass. I troll up and down that side just off the lily pads at the #1 setting on my electric motor. Last time we caught four bass. Whenever I’m fishing, there’s no one else on the lake. Catch fish here and then place them in our pond behind the house, which is just a mile away from the lake.
This is the BEST place for writing.

Looks like I'll be coming back to this region of the world. We'll see...

HIDDEN FIGURES — Dr. Christine Darden was one of the major NASA engineers behind sonic boom technology....and part of the inspiration behind the movie, “Hidden Figures”.
I met her at the Secret Service headquarters in DC at an event…the 7th years the Secret Service asked me to participate in training.
In the 12 photos below you’ll see the Black History exhibit I brought to that event, along with the inside of the Secret Service headquarters.
Have you watched that important movie, “Hidden Figures”? It reminded me of her. She and I had the opportunity to talk privately for at least 45 minutes about all sorts of topics and we became good buddies. Delightful, humble and brilliant person who continues to make a mark on American history...

Driving home on a rainy night,
Lost control, headlights in flight,
Saw the year on the final side of the dash.
Spun around. Eyes closed. No crash.
It’s kinda like being shot at and missed.
Heartbreak came when he walked out the door,
Love was lost. That’s her on the floor,
Healed over time, found a love that's true,
Nothing’s wasted. God got her through.
Kinda like being shot at and missed,
A second chance, a twist in the risk,
Life can change when a bullet whizzes past,
Let’s make plans for tomorrow with a nervous laugh.
War zone memories, bullets zipping by,
Comrades falling, thought we’d all die,
Made it home safe, scars and all,
Wide awake most nights. Hit the wall
Missing a leg, but still standing tall.
Cancer scare, thought his time was near,
Doc said it’s benign. Took the edge off his fear.
Faced mortality, looked death square in the eye,
Feet on the ground, with an eye toward the sky.
Bullet proof until it’s my time to fly.
Kinda like being shot at and missed,
A second chance, a twist in the risk,
Life can change when a bullet whizzes past,
I’m making plans for tomorrow, with a nervous laugh.
Kinda like being shot at and missed.
— Let me know if you want the CD version of the album. If enough people want the album as a CD, I’ll make that happen.
NORTH KOREA & DMZ VISIT -- On July 12th, 1993 I was given a high level briefing at the DMZ (De-Militarized Zone). See the photo of the hat given to me, that was personalized for me. I was a bit overwhelmed and surprised by their forethought when they gave me the gift of the hat with my name on it. I sat in the same chair and received the same briefing President Bill Clinton had received the previous day, on July 11th, 1993.
General John Tilelli was the Commander of the Army Base. He gave me one of his "dog tag" coins as a gift. Those reading this who have been in the military know that it is a high honor to receive a challenge coin. I have quite a number of those coins given to me over the years.
A soldier assigned to giving these types of briefings gave me an historical overview of the stand-off and showed me the tunnels dug by N. Koreans...recently exposed.
At the end of the briefing, I was told to make no sudden movements while we were on the DMZ. Some of the soldiers I saw were standing with only half of their bodies exposed. That is the norm at the DMZ. On the DMZ we saw the actual table in a small building in the middle of the DMZ used for face-to-face negotiations in the past.
We could see NK soldiers in the building opposite, looking at us through their binolulars. There is a NK town built up right at the DMZ to show the world that NK is prosperous. Thermal photography has been taken of that pretend village and no body heat or any other type of heat was found. An illusion.
I met soldiers stationed at the DMZ who were on a 45 second response time -- 24/7. There is little to no vegetation as you approach the region near the DMZ. You see machine gun turrets everywhere. And the concrete "bridges" over the main roads are designed to be blown up the moment an emergency is alarmed. That way those roads are closed to traffic immediately.
The purpose for my visit to S. Korea in 1993 was to conduct training for military (Army) leaders coming in to Seoul from around the Pacific rim for the training. I also conducted a training event for leaders at the Navy Base in Puson.

NBA WASHINGTON BULLETS/WIZARDS — For 20 seasons I was honored to serve as mentor/chaplain for the team — https://t.co/v2cVTuxCs3
Some time ago I rediscovered 7 season passes from the 1990s that permitted me all-access to the arena on game nights. Still looked like a kid in two of them, even after more than 15 seasons under my belt at the time. Ha...
Also, I’ve included different photo perspectives of my ring, a treasured memento from the 1977/78 NBA Championship win over Seattle (14k, 80g, weighs over 3oz...it's heavy). It’s not nearly as fancy or as bling as the modern pro championship rings, but I kind of like its simplicity — with my “JAF” initials on the inside.
Many times when I speak, I allow one specially selected person to wear the ring during the entire event (longest serving in industry, owner of company, someone celebrating their birthday, etc)...to honor them. You’ll see a picture of a woman at a recent event who wore it proudly.
This was a wonderful 20 seasons. Still keep in touch with a lot of the guys. Retired in 1998. That also happened to be the year when the team changed the name to Wizards.

ALASKA FISHING TRIP some years back, which included flying in a single engine plane, camping, a bit of hiking and a whole lot of fishing for red salmon on the Kenai and Russian Rivers. Had a blast!!! Been salmon fishing off the coast of British Columbia a number of times. Second time in Alaska.
I was packing a .44 pistol most of the time. Wearing bear bells is a joke. In one picture you see a black bear not far away behind me.
Was with Dave Bronson, a great friend over the years. He was a Delta pilot for many years. We flew in his single engine plane to his cabin about 40 miles north of Anchorage.
Love the people of Alaska. It takes a special person to live there.
