There are too many things I can say about @JoelPearl, but I think this screenshot from our 2021 trip to Vegas sums it all up. He'll know.
Always in for a good bit, always there for a friend, and always there to make the pro wrestling space a kinder, better place.
Love ya, Joel.
He's trusted me, we've confided in each other, and when I didn't do my best, he encouraged me to try again. Not every boss (or friend) will do that. So thank you, Sean, for being an example of someone who finds passion and fun in what we do, even when it's stupid.
It's such a cliché to say "my boss is my friend," but I legit started out as a friend to Sean. We met at an indie show in 2019, and we kept up. I wasn't trying to get a gig; I just respected the work and liked the dude...
I will always have love for @JoelPearl.
I really think he and Jeremy have had the best morning show in wrestling for years. So proud to have had him a part of this team.
He will always have a home at Fightful. So proud to know him
6 years later, the phone calls, texts, on-and-off air laughs. I'm stupidly lucky to have been afforded the opportunities at Fightful.
My respect and love for Sean has grown exponentially. How he treats others and operates as an employer, and his love for this, is infectious.
This man came to Toronto for AEW, and it allowed me to expense a Fightful dinner with him, his wife and a few other pals. Mike works HELLA HARD in an industry that deserves transparency and accountability.
Mike's honest, he's funny, and he takes no shit. Dude deserves the world!
Today was his final day on In the Weeds and at Fightful, and I mean this when I say that @JoelPearl is one of the best people I've ever met in this life.
A genuine person who was so welcoming when meeting me and my family. He's also one of the most insightful wrestling hosts and interviewers there is.
Fightful and wrestling media will miss you, but I wish you nothing but the best in your new venture. I look forward to the next time I get to Toronto so we can catch up.
@valcapone@Fightful Thank you so much, Val pal! For your friendship, for the opportunities we tried to make for each other, and for spending hours with me at WWE World in Vegas when we randomly spotted each other wandering around the space lol. You rule!
Today’s my last episode of In The Weeds for a while. Let’s have some fun and talk around all the wrestling stuff.
10a ET on @Fightful Overbooked!

The best thing about working with Laurence is how he just... DOES the thing. He cares, he's fun as hell, and he'll be straight with you.
Watching Laurence be a Boy last week at C4 was such a highlight because this dude was CHEESING while doing this silly, fun stuff. Thank you!
From the first time I met @JoelPearl he was always kind and always willing to give advice and I can’t thank him enough for that. Since then I’ve been lucky enough to call him my friend. 1/2
Mike has found his lane in the coolest way. He's mixed his love for visual storytelling, wrestling, music, and doing things RIGHT to get continuously booked and loved by his peers.
When I get to see Mike work at shows, I'm smiling cos he's working hard and killing it. Thank you!
Part of the reason I wanted to move Indied to Fightful a few years back was so I could work closer to and learn from people like @JoelPearl. Joel's a true professional in his coverage of wrestling at all levels and a genuinely wonderful human being. See you around, Joel!
@GrazeStreams@jeremylambert88 Thank you, Graze. It rules knowing someone from my hometown has been a friend and supporter of our silliness, and even better to have met you irl. We've got your back and appreciate you for having ours.
@sr_torch Thank you, Sean! I've been an admirer of your work from afar for a long time - Many may not realize that much of my approach to analysis and conversation comes from being a longtime Torch listener and supporter. Without you guys and your hard work, I'm not here. Thank you.
@_queerauntie PS - the last time wrestling made me emotional was at C4's Fighting Back show last Friday, when the amount raised was announced and thank yous were had.
@_queerauntie Collins! Thank you so much for the kind words. I love seeing the fun you and JPJ get to have together, and to have played the tiniest part in supporting the work you two have done. I look forward to seeing you do wonderful things here.
