Good Morning,
Please join me for a daily scripture break. (It is a little long).
James 5:16-18:
"Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. Elijah was a human being, even as we are. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years. Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops.”
To begin, the context of this passage is important, as the preceding verses were discussing offering prayers for the sick. Offering prayers for one another in the Body of Christ is quite commonplace. But note the poignant instruction in this passage is to 1. Confess your sins/(repent) then 2. pray. When you did those two things then the prayer was answered for healing. Then James recounts the story of Elijah (God’s prophet) who announces a drought upon Israel and he prayed for it not to rain for 3 and 1/2 years. God honored his prayer then he prayed and the rain came. (I Kings 17-18)
Merriam-Webster’s dictionary defines being righteous as …"acting in accord with divine or moral law : free from guilt or sin”.
A “righteous” person is one who seeks to consistently live their lives in pursuit of holiness, humbly confesses their sins, repents of their sins and earnestly seek forgiveness from the Lord thereby restoring their guilt free state of grace, seeks to obey the commandments of God, and loves God and their neighbor as themselves.
I think it is so important to stop and recognize what is being said here. Ad infinitum, we can dawdle and lament about the decline and deconstruction of Western culture, the de-Christianization of our culture, the relentlessly touted failed atheistic political ideologies as some kind of faux hope to the obvious decline of civilization. To change this destructive course "righteous people must take a stand.” God didn’t invoke the help of politicians, academicians, so-called subject matter experts, the ultra wealthy or technology gurus to solve these problems. In today’s passage God asks us (His people who are righteous - in right standing with Him) to confess their sins and ask for forgiveness (this action reaffirms our right standing in the Lord Jesus) and then pray.
Please listen. Too many Christian people just gloss over this and remain focused on what is wrong in their circumstances. I’m guilty of this failing too. We as the Body of Christ have to get serious about this because God is listening for our prayer and watching for our obedience. He is waiting for His Body to demonstrate the same consistency and faithfulness as Elijah, God’s prophet of old. Elijah prayed for three and half years for it not to rain (as he was told to do) and then when he followed God’s instruction to pray for rain - Elijah did what God instructed and God answered the prayer. This brings to mind another scripture that clearly leads us in the right direction.
Recall II Chronicles 7:14, it says, "if My people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, THEN I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
Satan’s tactic here is to overwhelm us with a constant barrage of information, bad news of catastrophes from all over the world, ubiquitous wars and deadly crises, etc.
All of this in an effort to distract us from what God requires from His people.
II Chronicles 7:14 describes a very similar framework as today’s passage:
1. “Righteous” people (the Body of Christ) must stand and do the following
2. As Christians - we must be humble ourselves
3. Pray
3. Seek the Lord’s face in other words, (confess our sins, ask for forgiveness, seek how and what the Lord wants us to pray through the guidance of the Holy Spirit)
4. Turn from our wicked ways (Repent)
5. THEN God will hear our prayer
6. Forgive our sin (a prerequisite to answering our prayer)
7. God will heal our land (answer our prayers).
No one else in our culture can do this but believers. Let’s look at the verse more intently. There are people who would be outraged by my last statement - “No one else in our culture can do this but believers.” Well, verse 14 begins with IF MY PEOPLE - NOT if everyone, or good people, or law abiding citizens - No! It clearly says “IF MY PEOPLE” - who are called by MY NAME (just in case there was any confusion); these are the people tasked to follow the instruction outlined in this verse.
God asks us to humble ourselves - to acknowledge that we are completely incapable of fighting these demonic forces in our own strength and that we acknowledge it is God alone Who is capable of correcting the chaotic disorder all around us.
God asks us to pray and seek His Face. Christians should prayerfully and fervently petition the Lord to hear our confession of our sins - grant us forgiveness for our offenses and ALSO show us though the guidance of the Holy Spirit how and what to pray. Elijah prayed for three and half years for no rain - (that’s what God instructed). Then Elijah prayed for rain (when God instructed) AND GOD ANSWERED HIS PRAYER. God instructed Elijah on the "how, what, when, where” for this prayer for the sake of an entire nation (does that remind you of anything?). I Thessalonians 5:17 says, “pray without ceasing…” The Body of Christ must pray continually for our nation. If we don’t no one else will.
Repentance. The final prerequisite before God agrees to act. We must remain committed to our relationship with God. We can’t vacillate between the world and God. James 4:4 says, "You adulterous people, don’t you know that friendship with the world means enmity against God? Therefore, anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God.” Endeavor to avoid sin and obey the Word of God.
With these requirements in place (requirements that can only be met by His People - THEN the Lord can act.)
THEN GOD WILL HEAR OUR PRAYER! Stop for a moment and consider. God hears your prayer when these prescribed conditions are met. In I Peter 3:7, husbands are given instructions how their wives are to be treated “...so that nothing will hinder your prayers.” The point is unless we approach God meeting these prerequisites He articulated He doesn’t even hear our prayer (His people’s prayers).
LET’S CONTINUE, GOD HEARD THE PRAYER AND THEN GOD PROMISES TO FORGIVE OUR SINS.
THEN GOD WILL (IN THIS CASE) HEAL OUR LAND.
The Body of Christ must remain vigilant on a daily basis praying for our country, our families and friends, and communities, the Body of Christ, and the rest of the world. From these verses James 5:16-18 and II Chronicles 7:14, God requires His people to follow these instructions and then God will move on our behalf. Elijah had to faithfully pray in order to in God’s timing, receive further instructions from God in order to grant his petition. Elijah had to be faithful in his prayer life and so do we.
I believe it is this faithfulness to God’s instructions that makes the prayer of a righteous person - “powerful and effective”. No force on this planet can stop your prayer. We are His children and He loves us but we must be obedient to His instruction.
Your political foes, atheistic ideologies, criminals, adversaries,…no one can hinder your prayers - only your disobedience.
God is waiting on us - the Body of Christ to "be doers of the Word and not hearers only.” (James 1:22)
Let’s pledge today to make this a daily priority - listen carefully to the Holy Spirit for His instructions. For those of you who are already doing this faithfully - thank you.
May God bless you and your family.
Peace and be prepared.
Oklahoman’s are more than ready, willing & able to drop kick @SenatorLankford to the political graveyard of nincompoops if he doesn’t help keep the Senate doors open & vote to pass the Save Act!
Scott, keep your ‘💩 kicking’ boots handy.
At the end of the day, the only Truth that remains is, Jesus the Christ died for the redemption of your sins. He defeated death, and rose again. You can share in that Victory, and have redemption. It is the hope that moves nations. It is my only hope.

Hey, I know things are crazy right now, and there's a lot going on, but I wanted to remind you:
Abortion is the unjustified murder of an innocent human being. It should be illegal. In fact, it should be treated exactly like murder for all involved parties, including the mother.
But it isn't.
No state treats it that way. The mother, one one who decides to murder her baby, is given full immunity from prosecution in every single state. All the blue states. All the red states. Even my state, Texas (to our shame).
The result is that there has been no decrease in abortion since the overturn of Roe v. Wade. On the contrary, it's increased. It is more convenient with the use of mail-order pills.
Babies, little, defenseless, babies are being murdered every single day, and it's all legal.
Right now people across the country are working to change this. No, it's not the pro life movement. It's not National Right to Life, or Susan B. Anthony List, or Youth for Life, or even Live Action. None of those groups want equal protection under the law for preborn babies. Many of them have actively worked hard to oppose it.
But other people are working to change it. Over the last decade bills have been filed in state legislatures across the country that would provide equal protection under the law. In Red states. But the pro life establishment folks have opposed it.
Please, if you've read this far, please, please, please step up an do something. There are things you can do. Here are some:
- Contact your state legislators and tell them to support bills of equal protection, ones that will treat abortion like murder without immunity for the mother
- Find the legislators in your state that are already doing that, and support them
- Oppose the legislators who oppose it
- Stop supporting pro life groups that are not supporting these bills. In all likelihood they are opposing them. If you give money to them, you're literally funding the continued legality of abortion in your state. I know that sounds crazy, but it's true
- Do your due diligence. Start learning more about "equal protection" and "abolishing abortion" - there's tons of resources about it, and this post on X is just the tip of the iceberg
- Tell your friends, family, pastor, etc.
I'm very excited about many of the aspects of the future of our nation. But the truth is that we don't even deserve a future if we don't stop this genocide. We already don't deserve it.
May God end the prenatal genocide in our land. May God forgive us.

IT SEEMS THAT EVERYWHERE YOU LOOK THE WICKED ARE PROSPERING. Communist insurgents run amok, unchecked in Minneapolis and other blue cities. The Iranian regime continues to murder its freedom-seeking citizens. Our 2020 election was stolen, and the people primarily responsible seem to be as far from justice as ever.
Most recently, the release of the Epstein Files has shown that incredibly evil people have gotten away with incredibly evil things to the detriment of the weak and innocent, and they will probably continue to get away with it.
All of that only scratches the surface. In America alone there have been over 70 million babies killed in the womb since 1973. Globally that number may be over 2 billion, some would estimate 3 or 4 billion.
How the wicked prosper.
This might seem like an appropriate time to despair, to decide that all is lost, and to start giving in to your darkest machinations. You are not alone in feeling that way - not in the present or in the past.
The Bible grapples extensively with this topic especially in Psalms 10, 37, and 73.
Psalm 73:3 says, "For I was envious of the arrogant when I saw the prosperity of the wicked." It goes on to describe the many ways that the wicked seem to prosper, lamenting that things would go so well for them, but in the end it acknowledges that God will bring them to ruin, and that He is our strength.
Psalm 10 asks in its opening verse, "Why, O Lord, do you stand far away? Why do you hide yourself in times of trouble?" It goes on describe the abominable activities of the wicked, describing their thoughts as "There is no God," and "God has forgotten, he has hidden his face, he will never see it."
But it goes on to appeal to God: "Arise, O Lord, O God, lift up your hand; forget not the afflicted...Break the arm of the wicked and evildoer; call his wickedness to account till you find none."
Psalm 10 ends with, "The Lord is king forever and ever; the nations perish from his land. O Lord, you hear the desire of the afflicted; you will strengthen their heart; you will incline your ear to do justice to the fatherless and the oppressed, so that man who is of the earth may strike terror no more."
Psalm 37 starts out with bold encouragement: "Fret not yourself because of evildoers; be not envious of wrongdoers! For they will soon fade like the grass and wither like the green herb."
It's true that the wicked are out and about among us and all over the world carrying out evil deeds of lawlessness. They crush widows and orphans. They kill, steal, and destroy. They rape, and they pervert. They lie, and they call good evil, and evil good, and then they go out and invent new ways to be evil. They spread their corruption everywhere. Many of them get away with it. Many of them accumulate wealth, and power, and fame, and prestige, and the acclaim of the many, and die peacefully at a ripe old age.
Do not be deceived.
This mortal life is a shadow. It is temporary. It is short. It is infinitesimally short in comparison with the eternity that comes after.
In Luke 12:4-5 Jesus said, "I tell you, my friends, do not fear those who kill the body, and after that have nothing more that they can do. But I will warn you whom to fear: fear him who, after he has killed, has authority to cast into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear him!"
Justice in this world we now live in is imperfect. Should we do what we can to implement good justice? Yes, absolutely yes. But this isn't it. This isn't the end. Every human who lives, or has lived, or will ever live will one day stand before God and give an account. Jeffrey Epstein, and George Soros, and Joseph Stalin, and Adolf Hitler, and all the rest will answer for their crimes.
As someone who has a strong sense of justice, I know this might not feel like the most satisfying answer. You want justice NOW. You want to see the wicked fall NOW. And the extent to which it can be accomplished lawfully now, I agree, it should be carried out.
But you need to prepare yourself for this inevitable fact: We will never see perfect justice in this life. We will see wicked, evil people get away with it. We will see righteous, Godly people suffer wrongdoing. Remember, again, the opening lines of Psalm 37: "Fret not yourself because of evildoers; be not envious of wrongdoers! For they will soon fade like the grass and wither like the green herb."
God is good, just, and powerful in the most real and pure senses of those words. No matter what the present looks like, or what you think the future may look like, he has got it under control.
One day Jesus will return, and he will make all things right, and that reality will continue into eternity, an eternity without death, pain, sin, or any form of injustice.
The justice you want now is good, but it is a temporary justice, a shadow of the ultimate justice to come.
Come quickly Lord Jesus.
In the meantime, don't lose heart. Don't fret. Don't despair. Trust in the Lord. He is in control.
