Also people miss the point. In the west, you have a lot of informative & educational contents. You have podcasts (Joe Regan etc), YouTube creators in different niches getting huge views. You also have content creators (twitchers, streamers ) who don’t add any positive values to the society but you see it’s almost balanced.

In Nigeria, the contents/creators l that do not add any positive value to the society dwarf those that do. It’s evident in X here, scroll through your timeline and see how many content/conversations add positive value to the society compared to the conversations that do not.

Podcasts conversations are mostly about body counts and what man can do vs what they cannot do.

I saw a clip from PoP my balloon Nigeria and the level of disrespect and insult hurled at each other, I instantly knew no serious person wil go on that show, and that show will die a natural death sooner than later.

A society where DJ chicken,Peller, Kolu, Carter, VDM, etc have a huge fellowship speaks volumes . But they are not the issue, they are the symptom of the rot in our collective intelligence. And please don’t come to me about “they have to feed”, Layi Wasabi, Tayo Aina, Fisayo Fosudo just to name a few are examples of creators who have to feed but their contents are a positive to the society. We need more of them.

There is always going to be a market for foolishness.

The problem is we stop calling it foolishness and rebranding it as wisdom.

Reality is that a society will produce more of what it honours.

And if you paint people like Peller as a standard to be emulated, you will end up with a society filled with people like them.
