Most of my friends can tell you I don’t like talking about a thing until it’s a thing. It’s a stressful policy for two reasons; I’m excited to talk about it and worried it’ll leak before I do.
So here goes.
I’ve started a newsletter on Subs-- wait, can I say that here?
The link is in my bio. It’s 100% FREE, launches next week, and you can pre-subscribe NOW!
I’ve always loved chatting with you. It started back in the 90s with the Event Comics message boards. It continued in my weekly Marvel Q+A columns, Joe Fridays, and later Cup of Joe, which grew into my favorite part of every con I attended, a panel filled with you and several hundred (at times thousands) of my favorite people!
God’s honest truth.
I missed that interaction, the camaraderie, and the differences of opinions between us, and I find it increasingly difficult to speak to you on most social platforms these days. There’s just so much white noise (panels are still a blast!).
This doesn’t mean I’m “quitting” Twitter, Instagram, or Facebook. Each of them is a valuable communication and marketing tool. I’m simply adding another that I think will be a lot of fun, and I'd love it if you joined me.
A comic hits the reader in the reverse order it was made.
Color first. Line art second. Story last.
New lesson just dropped: Working Backward.

Day four, Calgary.
I just found out this city is home to the world’s most famous rodeo.
And this weekend, they followed that up with me.
Bold programming choice.
Day three, Calgary. Saturday is going to be insane. Let’s do this.
Yesterday I watched Darth Vader walk past a guy in a ten-gallon hat and actual spurs.
Neither of them blinked.
I love this planet.
Day two, Calgary.
My tailbone hurts. My voice is half gone, and I’ve signed my name so many times it’s starting to feel like an out-of-body experience.
No notes.
Yo, Calgary.
It’s day one of the show.
There’s a specific energy in a convention hall before the doors open.
All that possibility. All that chaos.
God, I love the smell of sweaty EVA foam, contact cement, and thermoplastics in the morning.
I’ve Made These Mistakes On Every Page I’ve Drawn.
New newsletter just dropped.
