Columbia University Professor Who Defended Mahmoud Khalil Donated to Thomas Massie
Well, “Mullah Massie” seems to be really earning his nickname. FEC records confirm that Columbia University Professor Joseph D. Terwilliger donated to Thomas Massie in late July 2025, one week before Massie hosted a New York City fundraiser for himself.
Professor Terwilliger has criticized President Trump’s immigration policies in relation to Trump’s crackdown on pro-Hamas sympathizer Mahmoud Khalil, writing in a 2025 article:
“The Fourth Amendment seems to have an asterisk too, as students like Mahmoud Khalil have been arrested without warrants, held in what amounts to an American gulag, and now face deportation.”
A few days later, Terwilliger doubled down on his criticisms of President Trump and support for Hamas sympathizers on campus, titling an article “Free Speech for Me, Deportation for Thee,” where he wrote:
“I defended the right of international students like Rümeysa Öztürk, a Turkish graduate student at Tufts University and a Columbia alumna… She defended pro-divestment views on Israel… Yet she was thrown in an ICE detention center in Louisiana, labeled a ‘national security threat,’ all because Marco Rubio didn’t like her article.”
Now we know why Massie never discusses the source of his political donations.
@homolog_us I would add that these days science is not remotely a disinterested search for truth. It's rather a highly interested search for the next grant. The funding system poisoned the well, and now governments are doubling down on the cyanide...
My disgusted response to recent changes in EU policy on science diplomacy and US policy on securitizing all scientific, academic, sports and arts engagement. We must resist!

Anyone with dual citizenship should be prohibited from holding federal appointed or elected office or any role in the U.S. government inside the United States.

Just heading back to NY after lecturing about Science Diplomacy at my alma mater - Johns Hopkins.
Government, as usual, has tried to subvert the entire concept, by malevolently trying to redefine science diplomacy like Humpty Dumpty...
The architect of the new EU policy on science diplomacy explicitly argues, "It's not about being nice to each other".
Uh, yeah it is, dumbass! That kind of government stupidity is exactly why I became a libertarian...
Not captured here, is Shesterkin slowly taking his gear off right before he and Markstrom came together. It's obvious Igor has been holding in this rage for quite some time. He got too much enjoyment out of that LOL.
