Rebuilding trust in higher education starts with one thing: affordability. Chancellor King outlines how making college more accessible and reducing financial barriers can strengthen public confidence, expand opportunity, and power economic mobility for students and families. https://t.co/Bhf6GxwRuc
At a time when many question the value of college, SUNY answers with proof of what's possible. We open doors. We create opportunity. And we make sure every New Yorker has a place to thrive.
Congratulations, Class of 2026! I am incredibly proud to celebrate this milestone with you all. As you step forward with your SUNY degree in hand, I am confident that even more successes lie ahead.
Proud of our @MaritimeCollege cadets for charting a course that powers both opportunity and national service. They’re taking what they’ve learned at SUNY and turning it into high-impact, high-demand careers right out of the gate. https://t.co/pnY8Pc8QAh
A wonderful visit to @sunygcc earlier this week to highlight @GovKathyHochul’s @SUNY Reconnect: free community college for adults 25-55 in high demand fields!
Sarah Reynolds of Greece was among several students who shared their stories with @SUNY Chancellor @JohnBKing Jr. during a roundtable discussion at Genesee Community College about the SUNY Reconnect program. https://t.co/kAXrnjR8FJ
Earlier this week, I got to hear from SUNY Reconnect students at @HudsonValleyCC who are earning their degrees in applied technologies. By training for high-demand careers like HVAC, automotive repair, and electrical construction, these students are stepping directly into jobs that fuel their future and New York’s economy.

I was proud to celebrate Arbor Day at SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry (ESF) and see firsthand the incredible research their students and faculty are leading to restore critical forest ecosystems with the American Chestnut Program. @sunyesf's work is shaping a more sustainable future for New York and beyond.
During my visit to SUNY Brockport (@Brockport), I had the chance to meet these impressive students who are putting their education into action. Through Brockport Brand Builders, a student‑led marketing club, they’re gaining hands‑on experience while supporting local businesses. Opportunities like this help SUNY students gain the skills and confidence they need to succeed before they even graduate.
Thank you to our hosts for bringing together students, educators, and leaders to strengthen communities across our state. I am especially grateful to Chair of the Puerto Rican/Hispanic Task Force, Assemblymember Karines Reyes (@KarinesReyes87), for her commitment in making this conference a success.
I was inspired by the leadership and energy at the 2026 SOMOS Conference, celebrating four decades of advancing opportunity and advocating for Latino New Yorkers.
"SUNY campuses utilizing geothermal heat pumps are leading the way to improve energy efficiency, reduce emissions, and help the entire state meet our climate sustainability goals," @SUNYChancellor@JohnBKing said."Investing in SUNY capital projects are win-win-wins for New York"
I was honored to join President Andrea Goldsmith for a fireside chat at the State University of New York at Stony Brook to kick off her inauguration week. Our conversation focused on the critical role SUNY and Stony Brook play in advancing access, affordability, workforce development, and technology leadership across New York State.
Last week, I toured Cornell Tech and the FDR Four Freedoms State Park on Roosevelt Island. During the visit, I met with students and campus leadership to discuss opportunities for collaboration in research, grant partnerships, and workforce development. Cornell Tech exemplifies the innovation and academic excellence that strengthen New York City and the broader region.
Inauguration Week is officially underway!
We kicked things off at SBU Southampton with an inspiring fireside chat from @SBUPrez and @SUNYChancellor on access, affordability, student support and preparing for an AI-driven future.

I appreciated the opportunity to attend the SUNY Internship Summit earlier this week and hear directly from students about what they need to succeed. Their perspectives on how they find internships, engage with employers, and integrate these experiences into their career plans were both insightful and inspiring. The summit reinforced what we know to be true: internships are foundational to a quality educational experience and essential to preparing students for life after graduation.
It was great to visit @NorthCountryCC as part of the SUNY Reconnect tour and see firsthand how they’re supporting adult learners. Through SUNY Reconnect, we’re making it possible for New Yorkers ages 25–55 to earn a tuition-free associate degree in high-demand fields, opening doors to opportunities and strengthening our workforce across the state.
Last week, I had the opportunity to see the SUNY Empire State Service Corps (ESSC) students in action at the Regional Food Bank. Being able to volunteer alongside this amazing group was inspiring and highlighted the community-focused and service-oriented values of our ESSC members.
A great visit to @suny_cortland this week, exploring their newly updated communications and media studies building, connecting with EOP students, and cheering on SUNY Cortland and SUNY Potsdam in their Women’s Lacrosse game. This was an energizing opportunity to engage with students and experience campus life firsthand.
