This Christmas, we’re reflecting on the quiet wonder of Christ’s birth through a watercolor painting by JBU alumna Anna Baliff ’25 and the poem, “In the Beginning,” by student Anna Sprague ’26. The one who spoke light into existence became Light incarnate.
JBU distinguished professor of religion & philosophy, Dr. David Vila, is a Fulbright Scholar for the 2025-26 academic year. Vila currently serves as an affiliated faculty member at the University of Jordan. This is Vila's third Fulbright award.

JBU students in “Every Nation, Tribe, People, and Language: The Call to a Multiethnic Church” recently attended the 2025 Mosaix National Conference in Dallas. They joined more than 1,100 pastors, theologians, authors and practitioners for this triennial national gathering.
Joe Walenciak, Ph.D., JBU distinguished professor of business, was awarded the 2025 Rotary Impact Award by the Siloam Springs Rotary Club on Oct. 14 for his years of work in Guatemala with the “Guatemalans Can Lead” program.

JBU’s Center for Healthy Relationships (CHR) announces an expansion of its programming through its signature BRAVE Relationships workshops. This curriculum equips first responders to cultivate strong personal relationships and was made possible by a generous gift from Arvest.

NEW FACULTY: Dr. Jacob Kettner joins our faculty this fall as assistant professor of kinesiology. After earning his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Harding University, he has been treating as a physical therapist in Northwest Arkansas 2019.
Kaitlyn Hawn joins our JBU faculty this fall as assistant professor of Biblical Studies. She is currently completing her doctoral dissertation at the University of Oxford, where she specializes in ancient Judaism and New Testament. Welcome, Kaitlyn!
Dr. Eric Suddeath joins us as chair of the Graduate Counseling Department and associate professor of counseling. Dr. Suddeath has served as a youth minister in the Texas panhandle and as counseling faculty at Mississippi State University.
Dr. Seth Hart joins our faculty this fall as assistant professor of Biblical studies and theology. Dr. Hart hails originally from Neosho, Missouri, but has since lived in Arizona, Canada and the United Kingdom before meeting the love of his life, Emily, and moving to Arkansas.
After serving at JBU as an adjunct English writing instructor for over 17 years, Becky Marietta joins us full-time as assistant professor of English this fall. A resident of Oklahoma, Becky has published one novel, several short stories and creative nonfiction.
After serving at JBU as an adjunct instructor since 2023, Dylan Parker joins us full-time as instructor of theology. He is passionate about discipleship and approaches his teaching with the conviction that humans are created for joyful communion with God, neighbor and creation.
Neil Entwistle returns to his alma mater as assistant professor of teacher education bringing 20 years of experience in teaching and school administration. For the past decade, he has served as an elementary teacher in the Siloam Springs School District.
Congratulations to Gustavo Maida and Sofia Santana. On Saturday, June 21, they won 1st place in the ACBSP School of Thought Entrepreneurship Competition in Las Vegas. The competition received over 100 submissions and the top four teams were invited to pitch.
