Tom Woods making sense. In a world driven by grievance & blame front line Police Officers are easy targets. Their job is made even more challenging by Police leaders too eager to pander to ill informed & often deliberately misleading voices, including some MSM.
Camera footage of the death of Henry Nowak gives a glimpse into the dark and deceptive world of street policing.

Speaking as a 73 year old male. Im sorry I don't understand all today's gender challenges, Im sorry I don't understand peoples reluctance to accept personal responsibility and Im really sorry some people cannot accept my failure to understand, I do try, I honestly do.
Some MSM are finding it difficult to conceal their glee about the pressures on the PM. The reporting now consists 95% speculation & commentary with the rest given over to factual news. What really is the problem. MSM trying to compete with SM, a race top the bottom. @BBC ???
The What is usually obvious and easily agreed, the How is difficult for partnerships, but if we ask the Why question that usually reveals the real practical areas of consensus. It also weeds out the imposters!! IMHO
When I teach public policy courses -undergrad, postgrad, practitioners training, I care less about *what* people support but insist on a focus on *how*: the (opportunity) costs, unintended consequences, coherence, spillovers, implementation... The *what* is meaningless otherwise.
Agree totally. Local control, local delivery, local accountability, local knowledge, local relationships, local needs, local aims, local measures = local success. The only way.
START BY ABOLISHING the 31 HSCPS. Created by SNP and described as largely ineffective
I would look to restore the regions and at the same time hading functions and strengthening smaller localised units like Scandinavia
The impact of our divisive politics and self serving politicians is not only eroding trust but running our country down. We are not in a good place. We require consensus policies not point scoring debates.
Overstretched and under funded Police Service diverted from serving their communities by complaints from politicians about other politicians. Only one of the ways our divisive nasty politics impacts on the wellbeing of our public services and our communities.
Another day and another casual throwaway remark from Trump seems to be leading the news. His ability to get our media dancing to his tune says as much about them as it does about him. Could someone explain to them the difference between signal and noise, and between BS and news?
A Licence for Police Officers - dear God. A licence for Police leaders might work! A College of Policing obsessed with "leadership" yet we have few Police leaders who shine or even lead. Some are fine managers, most are self obsessed careerists. IMHO
Yesterday it was impossible to walk down the street in Davos without people stopping to want to talk about the Orange Man Baby. Today it is @MarkJCarney they want to talk about. Doubtless the OMB will have some petty act of revenge lined up but that speech today was real leadership
@alastairmci Alastair, nowadays I take to Twitter as an alternative to shouting at TV, or sometimes even newspapers, a sort of therapy, only effective briefly. I may resort to journal writing to vent my frustrations since, as you say, Mr Musk rather destroyed this outlet. Like your review.
Stop Search - Police again becoming the service of first resort. Context - violence is down, "hit" rate for S&S is about 3.5%. Where's diversion, mentoring, education? Come on Scotland don't we remember the evidence led route to prevention, we're going backwards! 1/2
SG happy to boast about the VRU, prevention and Public Health approach, but apparently not so keen to invest in it. Back to relying on Policing to deal with the outcomes and consequences of failings everywhere in the system. So incredibly disappointing.
@ProfJMitchell 👏👏 Usual first response to any question on public service performance is how much money has been spent. Follow up Q should be "well obviously that's not working so what next?!" When we had money there were still huge failings in performance, maybe the answer isn't money 🤔
