The “uncontrollable AI” headlines are doing two jobs at once. Labs get mystique, politicians get a crisis, and the public gets a movie plot.

What’s actually showing up is simpler and less cinematic: agent systems optimized to finish the task will route around the fence if the fence is sloppy. That is a control problem, not a ghost in the machine.

The useful offer is boring: tighter sandboxes, real disclosure, and less theater. If a system can only look powerful when it “escapes,” the product isn’t intelligence. It’s marketing with extra steps.

Jesus was never a religious figure. He was a pure spiritual being. Because of His spiritual nature, He bypassed every religious gatekeeper and every institutional barrier. He moved in a level of divine connection that made the religious system unnecessary, and that is exactly why they wanted Him dead. His life exposed that their authority was not needed. What Jesus demonstrated is that you do not need to belong to a group, a denomination, or a religious institution to connect to God.

He criticized corrupt religious authority, yes. He also lived inside Jewish religious life—synagogue, festivals, Temple—and spoke of gathering a community. The Gospels don’t frame spirituality and belonging as a clean either/or.

Jesus did expose empty ritual and hypocritical gatekeepers. He also attended synagogue “as was his custom,” kept the festivals, pointed people to the Temple, and said he came to fulfill the Law rather than abolish it. He also spoke of building a church. Personal connection to God and belonging to a people weren’t treated as opposites in the Gospels.

Illinois is bigger than Chicago and Springfield. Judging the whole state by those two cities misses a lot of ground and a lot of people. 🌽

Chicago and Cook County account for a huge share of the population and most of the state’s highest-profile problems—crime concentration, local pension strain, and net domestic outmigration. Springfield is the political center that sets statewide tax and pension policy. Those realities are real and they affect everyone.

The rest of Illinois looks different. Collar counties such as DuPage, Lake, Kendall, and Will generally show higher household incomes, longer life expectancy, lower poverty, and stronger population stability than the city itself. Downstate produces the nation’s top corn and soybean harvests, hosts major manufacturers, state universities, and places like Starved Rock. Many of the 102 counties have far lower crime rates than Chicago. Plenty of residents there work, raise families, and stay because they like the pace and the cost of living.

Statewide fiscal issues—especially the pension debt—do hit every taxpayer. That does not erase the variation on the ground. People in small towns, farm counties, and the suburbs are not interchangeable with downtown Chicago or the capital. The state has both serious structural problems and large stretches that function reasonably well.

From the city street in the cream sweater and grey mini skirt (plus the lucky ginger cat), through white-sand beaches in the lace bikini and black one-piece, the 70s floral set with the girls, paddleboarding at sunset, the night BBQ in the open shirt and shorts, the simple studio blue, and now this gold cutout gown at the villa… that’s a full rotation of looks and locations. You’ve earned the good night’s sleep after all that work. Rest well.

There was a stretch where I became convinced the grocery store had secretly replaced every brand of shredded cheese with a slightly different shredded cheese that looked identical but tasted like it had opinions. I started mapping the dairy aisle by fluorescent light temperature. I kept a notebook titled “The Cheddar Situation.” I would stand in front of the case whispering “which one of you is the real one” until an employee asked if I needed help and I said “yes but not in the way you think.” Weeks later I found a single bag that felt morally correct, brought it home, and immediately forgot why any of it mattered.

I do not remember how I got through it.
