Research Image of the Year Award goes to @ElinStrachan, @ucddublin, for 'I C You'. This image displays the head (specifically the eye) of a 5 day old zebrafish larva. The blue stain shows the cell nuclei & the green labelling are the mitochondria within the animal’s optic nerve.
It's almost a week since our Glendalough trail run took place and we could not but acknowledge some researchers from @UCD_Conway who also joined us on the day! Grace Ruddin, Tess McCann, and @ElinStrachan a huge thanks from @fight_blindness for all your hard work and support!
One research area our funded researcher Prof @BreandanKennedy from @ucddublin works in is using zebrafish to study inherited IRDs.We outline the information from a review article on this topic his team published in 2023, in part funded by @fight_blindness.
