@IoWBobSeely Allowing Manchester to trade more efficiently with Hull (through improved transport links) will bring little benefit to Manchester (certainly little compared to improved links to Birmingham and London). In short, this decision will perpetuate the north south divide in the UK.

@IoWBobSeely I disagree. It is government’s job to invest in infrastructure for the long term benefit of the UK economy (although not at any price). Diverting this investment into regional connectivity in the north will do little to allow that region to trade nationally/internationally.
