@kevinhatchard I’d be fine with that. But the two groups who must sign on are a) fans hurling dogs abuse at refs, & b) media. We’ve both worked for outlets that spend a LOT of time criticizing refs.
No more “let’s go over the calls of the weekend” segments. No more ref columns in papers, etc.
@schadjoe I’m actually fine with that…. Provided that if they tank, they refund season ticket holders a portion of the cost (as a credit for future seats) and immediately lower single game prices. Funding a thing where your team isn’t trying to do its best isn’t right.

At FA HQ:
Sponsor: We want to sponsor the FA Cup
FA: Great
Sponsor: But it’s only worth it to us if top clubs make the QF & SF
FA: But…the thing that makes the FA cup the FA Cup is it’s fair for all levels
Sponsor: Rattles 50 pieces of silver
FA: Leave the money on the dresser
FA's new Women's FA Cup proposals incl omitting Tier 7 clubs, seeding + no draw after last 32. Clubs claim “drawbridge” pulled on lower tiers. “FA Cup isn't broken for 99% of clubs. Interests of few should never override lifeblood of game.” @TheAthleticFC

@IanDarke Ian, you're spot on. As a Spurs fan, I get frustrated by the "Frank out" brigade because I've yet to get an answer to "Who's next?" The answer can't be "I don't care, just want him gone." Honestly, for Frank Out folks, what manager do you want who will actually take the job?
As a Spurs supporter? This is STILL infinitely better than our lot, which is a sleeping troll that ownership want us to believe will one day BE a giant — but can’t even tell us when we can expect it to even wake up.
Liverpool are the sleeping giant that Jurgen Klopp prodded and shook until it woke up. That giant now looks like it is sleepwalking its way back into hibernation.
How much time does US TV waste w/ commercials?
Started watching sports 5:40p — 2 hrs 40 min after Tottenham v. Brentford KO.
Watched whole match, plus entire Rose Bowl fast fwd only commercials & HT
Caught up to live 11:30 3Q of Sugar Bowl 10:19p.
7:19 of sports in 4:39
@Tim_Vickery And the Irish, & the Chinese people who as it turned out built most of our big railroad routes and when we were done with that we did our best to kick ‘em out.
And, and, and.
We got lots of Northern European descendants lacking in melanin who get real squeamish about control
@kevinhatchard Kevin, don’t waste your time. He’s in bed w/US soccer, with its myriad issues, and MLS, whose billionaire owners care more about $$ than the game. He proudly backed Mr. Trump, so of course he embraces the “customer” model over supporters. He was a decent player. Now? A mouthpiece
@Top100Rick On shaming "slow" play:
I love golf, & have a disability so walk slower. I mitigate that (handicap cart flag, 1 practice swing at most, choose clubs fast. My foursome will always take longer (4:15-4:30). I'd love to join a club, but the shaming makes that seem unwelcoming at best
It’s hard to cover this sport sometimes.
DBK had @huskervb playing dominantly all year.
The tourney’s fickle. We’ve seen — in many sports — upsets like this.
Cook hadn’t won a natty since ‘17. No one wanted his head. DBK’a 33-1. 1 loss & people are questioning her? Come on.
@LydiaGroteFan I think it’s time we ask - is DBK really the right person to lead this program? Unprepared for an Elite Eight match and questionable personnel moves…
