Asking God One Question

If you (as a Christian) were allowed to ask God one question face to face, what would it be? Perhaps you would ask how and when you will leave this life. Is that a frightening thought to you? Perhaps we should meditate on it, because it would help us to inject eternity into the temporal. Thinking about life and its transient nature can help us to think about death and eternal implications for the lost, and that's what matters most. We are safe in the arms of Jesus, but they are in their sins and if they die in that state, they will go to Hell forever. We must therefore make every moment count in our efforts to reach them with the Gospel, and if we are not doing that, we must begin doing it today.

There goes another minute. Gone forever. Go share your faith while you still have time.

Why is the age of the earth/universe such an emotional issue?

In all the years I’ve been in the biblical creation apologetics ministry, I’ve discovered that the issue of the age of the earth and the universe is an extremely emotional topic for secularists. That’s even true for some church leaders who believe in millions of years and vehemently attack our Bible-affirming ministry as well.

And there’s a phenomenal intimidation factor from the world directed towards Christians in regard to this topic. I’ve heard over and over again that people who reject the supposed millions/billions of years for the age of the earth and universe being accused of being anti-intellectual, anti-scientific, and anti-academic. This intimidation is so great, the majority of Christian academics compromise with the millions of years. Personally, I believe it comes down to an intellectual pride problem. If an academic rejects the millions of years, they won’t be published in what are deemed the mainstream journals in theology or science.

Now for biblical creationists, the age of the earth is an issue that should lead Christians to a different kind of strong emotion: a real zeal for the authority and accuracy of the Word of God. Ultimately the issue of the age of the earth/universe is an authority issue. Who is the ultimate authority? Fallible finite man or God?

This all hit home to me as I watched a video clip of famed atheist Richard Dawkins who once appeared on the well watched TV program Q & A in my homeland of Australia. Prof. Dawkins, perhaps surprisingly at first, came across as quite tolerant of church people who believe in evolution. But when it came to the topic of the age of the earth, Dawkins changed his tone dramatically. On the program, he openly mocked those who believe in a young universe and earth (i.e., just over 6,000 years old). Now, he could somehow manage to sort of tolerate church people who didn’t accept evolution. But with the age of the earth, that’s different. He scoffs and mocks. It was obviously a very emotional issue with him.

I’ve also observed that when the secular media have visited our Creation Museum or Ark Encounter and interviewed me or other staff, they usually concentrate on asking us questions about the age of the earth—including why we believe dinosaurs lived alongside people. The reporters often act as if it’s ridiculous not to accept the supposed billions of years. And to them that’s the main issue.

Increasingly, I’ve noticed that when the media write reports about us, they often don’t mention the scientific points we present in our rebuttal of evolution, but instead state something like this (these words appeared in our local newspaper):

“The Creation Museum employs scientists of its own but has been criticized by the larger scientific community for positions it takes that conflict with mainstream scientific belief. For example, the museum contends the Earth is 6,000 years old, rather than about 4.5 billion. It also shows humans living at the same time as dinosaurs, which most scientists say never happened.”
In fact, sometimes I wonder if all the secular media have this paragraph and then just paste it into any article that may refer to us. They certainly try to make this a big issue and ensure they are ridiculing us for believing in a young earth/universe no matter what other topics we deal with.

So why is the age of the earth such a big issue with secular scientists and the media? And why is it that after biblical creationists have written so many books and scientific peer-reviewed papers that contradict the supposed billions of years for the age of the earth/universe, and expose the fallible dating methods devised by man, secularists still scoff?

Well, here’s the bottom line:

For secularists to even postulate the idea of evolution, they have to also postulate an incomprehensible amount of time (billions and billions of years) so that the universe and life might have enough time to supposedly evolve by an impossible process (eg: matter giving rise to information and a language system as seen in the molecule of life DNA, which is impossible). Even with billions of years, though, evolution is impossible. Mathematically and scientifically. But secularists aggressively promote billions of years to make evolution a plausible idea. After all, as humans we can’t really comprehend billions of years. So therefore people are brainwashed to think that given enough time anything can happen.

The late famed evolutionary biologist, Ernst Mayr said the following:

“[The Darwinian] revolution began when it became obvious that the earth was very ancient rather than having been created only 6000 years ago. This finding was the snowball that started the whole avalanche.”

For such scientists, it doesn’t matter how good the creationist research is about the age issue. They have already rejected the possibility of a young eateh and universe before considering it as billions of years is integral to the religion of naturalistic evolution.

Frankly, they have to reject what biblical creationists state concerning the age of the earth, because even allowing the possibility that the earth is only a few thousand years old is tantamount to admitting that biological evolution is totally wrong. And the alternative? Creation? No, they can’t allow it at all! If creation is true, and the God of the bible is the Creator, then it means He sets the rules. He decides what is right and wrong. He owns us and we need to obey Him. It means we are sinners in need of salvation. It also means marriage is one man for one woman and there are only two genders of humans.

Why are biblical creationists so adamant that the earth is young? It’s because we’re zealous for the Bible, and God’s Word clearly indicates (through the specific genealogical history) that the earth is thousands, not billions, of years old. The only reliable dating method for the age of the earth/universe would come from someone who knew everything, who had always been there, who knows when it started—and then revealed it to us!

Of course there is such a ONE—the God of the Bible! The Bible is the only trustworthy dating source. It presents a detailed history from the beginning, about 6,000 years ago.

Also when a Christian believes in millions of years, then they accept that death and diseases like cancer (as seen in the fossil record which supposedly formed millions of years before man) existed before sin, and God calls that “very good.” No, this undermines God’s character and is an attack on biblical authority.

At present, the world is engaged in a great but futile debate regarding a solution for what's taking place in Israel, not knowing that Israel (Israel - the most documented and persecuted nation in the history of man) has been reassembled back in her Land exactly as the Bible said it would be. Israel's return is an End Times requirement, a prerequisite that must happen just prior to the cataclysmic events of the Last Days. This will happen, and this is happening now - that Israel would, contrary to the politics of the nations of the world, rise again. The U.N. and its deranged delegations are about to discover that the Bible is clear: there will never be a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian debate.

According to the Bible (the most vetted book in the history of man,) YHWH has declared that once Israel has been brought back from among all the nations of the world back into her Promised Land, the Land of Israel for the second time (May 14, 1948 see Isaiah 66:8) that Israel's existence would be marked by wars and persecutions yet, in the midst of her troubles, God would be at work paving the way for Israel's future blessings. I encourage you to become educated now by reading the Old Testament Scriptures concerning what is about to happen next. According to Biblical prophecies, Israel will succeed in these present battles. However, once she senses a peace and a safety - there will arise a man of an unholy, satanically possessed, political mastermind that will present himself to the world as being the answer. He will be catapulted onto the world scene with Satan's implanted idea for world peace. All this and so much more is rooted in the ancient Hebrew scriptures. This beautiful, persuasive, smooth, and deceptive man will suddenly become a world leader by engineering a 7-year agreement, a peace treaty between Israel and its surrounding neighbors. (see Daniel 9:24-27 & 2 Thessalonians 2:5-12 & Matthew 24:3-22).

May I offer you a little bit of instruction and or advice? Please, now more than ever - spend time in the Word of God, the Bible. Get away from the time you waste on social media, T.V., or entertainment because none of those things are going to bring you the peace and the assurance that you are going to need in the Last Days that are ahead. The word of God will be the only thing that will get you through the coming DAZE. A deception has already begun, but The Deception is nearing.

For Israel, there are terrible times ahead, yet a remnant of Israel will survive and will prosper and will inherit God's immutable covenant that he has made with them. (see Jeremiah 31 & Ezekiel 37-38) However, all other nations of the world will set their politics against Israel - But thankfully, God will destroy Israel's enemies by God Himself (see Zachariah 12:1-9). So to the Jew, and to Israel, the LORD, not I say to you, Turn to Him. Believe in Him. He who is the One who has made you. "Look, the LORD your God has set the land before you; go up and possess it, as the LORD God of your fathers has spoken to you; do not fear or be discouraged." - Deuteronomy 1:21
