So, currently looking at a new fixed tariff with @eonenergyuk but they want a hugely increased daily standing charge for electric from 47.77 p per day to 64.39p. That’s an increase of 35%! Has in contrast is going down by about 8%. Surely this is profiteering?

@ClaireCoutinho Even if North Sea Gas was exactly the same price as Gas from other parts of the world, it would still a great deal more sense to pipe it directly to the UK. Ed doesn’t want to accept this (or any North Sea advantages) point because his green energy paymasters will be cross!

Whilst other DPP’s have benefitted this “Keir Starmer specific” piece of legislation also scrapped the £1m Lifetime Allowance that applies to everyone else. In short, so his pension pot could be significantly larger.

@ListerLawrence I got a new Rover 214 GSi (the top trim) in Jan 1990 and that was £10,495. Admittedly a 5
Door and the top spec - but that was 6 years before this advert. The all new 1990 214 was based on the Honda Concerto and for a number of yrs was a step above Escorts/Astras of the time.

Today they’re taxing businesses more, ensuring they use expensive energy & .. putting up the min wage
