You cannot build a church on consumers. They'll desert you at a moment's notice because they have no commitments beyond meeting their own needs. Jesus can take twelve disciples and build a movement that changes the world. He could never have done that with consumers.

Happy New Year!!!
“The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.”
(Numbers 6:24–26)
“The key element to the spontaneous expansion of the church is simplicity. Movement requires reproducibility. What we are multiplying should be reproducible by just about everyone.”
#TheChurchAsMovement
“We must die to our self, our infatuation with speed and size, and devote ourselves to the work of making disciples, training the few.”
#TheChurchAsMovement
We are right in the middle of one of the most profound moments in the history of the western church. Right now is a unique opportunity for uncontested change towards mission & multiplying movement. Let’s not screw it up! It’s time to go all in!!! #ItWillCostYou#ChristIsWorthIt
Just been reflecting tonight on a few weeks of networking across Ireland, reconnecting, praying, preparing & exploring. I’ve never been more sure that God is up to something special! The #NewThing is alive & spreading!!!

@Rgodward Yes, but I think the key is in the fact he refers to ‘disciples’. I’m assuming by that they’re in an ongoing journey of learning with a liberating balance of being highly allowed and highly accountable. 👍👍👍
"Every disciple, through the gifts God has given, is qualified for ministry. Movement leaders must trust that the Holy Spirit who is leading them will also lead the disciples. So, the responsibility is to ensure that the disciples have every opportunity..."

@JamieLavery_ Yip, Christology determines missiology, and missiology should then form our ecclesiology. The Western church often has it in reverse. We should always start with Jesus, when we do the focus will always be on HIS mission! #DiscipleshipCentered
I know this will be controversial to some ... but the solution for what ails the church in North America is not more preaching.
It is the recapturing of the missionary nature of the church and the empowerment of the priesthood of all believers.
