Fed up with the media, journalists, think tanks, MPs constantly punching down, attacking disabled people, the welfare state & misrepresenting it as a cost & burden
Disabled people have to fight to defend our lives every day
Welfare is survival
We’re not all the same either
@Helen_Whately@Conservatives Just a reminder, Helen:

I want to share some good news & with the Bullys too. My PIP appeal & review came back & after fighting for 2 years & almost having to go to a court tribunal. iv won the appeal 😃 I have high rate back on the daily living component. DWP made a mistake with many including me. #MM
@MarieTidball@RachelTaylorMP But it hasn't been implemented, so it's pointless until the government lays the regulations. Will you ask them to do so?

So many blind/VI people petitioning against floating bus stops we now make up 5 contingents for petitions. From Essex to Exeter, Manchester & Oldham across to Leeds & York plus everywhere in between. But are you listening @andyburnham ⁉️

A Tory shadow minister has said that accusing parents of “gaming the system” to secure support for their disabled children is “populist BS*”, just hours after his leader accused many disabled adults of doing exactly that when claiming benefits.

We all want to stay connected to the people and places that matter to us. Disability Benefits like ADP help make it possible for many disabled people to stay well, maintain relationships and remain active in their communities. #CPW2026#DisabilityBenefits#ADP
#AccessibleHousing
The disability minister has supported his government’s “unprincipled” decision to slash accessible housing targets set by the last Conservative government.

An accessible transport expert was left stuck in mid-air on an unsafe platform lift for over an hour at this week’s Conservative conference, just after the party’s own disability group admitted access was not a priority for the Tories.

#SocialSecurity
The Conservative shadow work and pensions secretary may finally have accepted that spending on social security is not “out of control”, just as her party says it wants to cut more than £36 billion a year from the “welfare” budget.

📢 DISABLED PEOPLE WON’T BE SILENCED! ♿✊
📍 Labour Northern Headquarters, Newcastle
📅 Wednesday 28th October
⏰ 12:30pm – Budget Day
We’ve seen the dangerous rhetoric. We’ve watched disabled voices being ignored and sidelined by the Timms Review. We’ve seen young people’s welfare support come under attack, while disabled people are continually made to pay the price.
Meanwhile, Andy Burnham talks about supporting disabled people into work, while ignoring the systemic barriers, the financial support disabled people rely on, and the very real cuts to Access to Work.
Enough is enough. We will not be ignored, spoken over or pushed further into poverty.
A few of us from the Crips group are organising a protest and occupation at Labour’s Northern Headquarters in Newcastle to coincide with the Budget.
📢 BRING BANNERS. BRING MEGAPHONES. BRING NOISE. MAKE OUR VOICES HEARD!
But we can’t do this alone. We need numbers, solidarity and people willing to stand alongside us.
We have wheelchair users who will need practical support with accessibility and getting into the building. We need people who can turn up, support one another and help make sure disabled people are front and centre.
This is about our lives, our rights, our dignity and our futures.
✊ Nothing about us, without us!
If you’re interested, able to attend or can offer support, please get in touch!
They might ignore a few of us, but together we can make ourselves impossible to ignore. ♿🔥

The Conservative party has refused to explain why it blocked Disability News Service (DNS) from receiving its press releases at its annual conference, and why it refuses to answer questions on disability-related policy.
