@PeterSchiff@scottmelker Will you be saying the same things when BTC is $1m per coin? Is there a number in which you give it up and admit you were wrong?
@ylecun@alexgrenier@DavidSacks Im curious to know the answer although I don’t find it particularly relevant to my assertion that basic research absolutely can be and is funded privately so I don’t think it’s a fair criticism of Trump to say he’s not pro innovation bc some federal funding is cut
@ChiefsSBC2020@Micro2Macr0@rocwun That’s not true at all, look at UPRO and TQQQ. They’ve massively outperformed their spot counterparts. You just need to generally trend upward (which good companies do over time) and not chop around
@ylecun@Xnarkycritic@DavidSacks Who’s to say that fundamental research can’t be funded philanthropically? When you’re a billionaire, you don’t need a path to commercial viability, you simply fund the things you want to see in the world. Plus many researchers do things on their own accord bc they like it
@ylecun@Xnarkycritic@DavidSacks Are they though? We have Elon planning to go to Mars, that’s a pretty long time horizon with respect to ROI. Plenty of private cos pursuing fusion as well
@gigahodler@BitcoinPierre We do have record oil exports and the strait becomes more irrelevant day by day as the world routes around it and procures oil from not so hostile regions
@GlennOnrampBTC@gladstein@GavinOnEarth Vitalik publicly raised funds with an ICO, anyone who wanted to buy could. Arguably a fairer launch than satoshi posting on an obscure public forum for his handful of colleagues
