Gonzalez's performance on Saturday was a regional-championship winning performance in the 165-pound weight class with a 1,570-pound total.
Rigsby qualified for state just 15 pounds over the state-qualifying total at 1,365 pounds thanks to a big improvement in the bench press.

Our Brenham ISD athletes, Evo Beach, Miguel Rodriguez, John Rigsby, and Michael Gonzalez, participated in the THSPA Region 2 Powerlifting Meet this past weekend.
Michael Gonzalez and John Rigsby both qualified for state. Congratulations on an outstanding performance!

The Iron Cubs showed out at the regional meet! Setting PRs, breaking records and getting to State. Great season by all of the guys but we’re not done yet.

Our @BrenhamHS Powerlifters did amazing!! They lifted a total of 5,110 pounds!!! Broke a record, made several PRs, and have 2 STATE Qualifiers!! So proud of Miguel, Evo, John, and Michael!! It’s a great day to be a Cub!! @CoachR_Jones thanks for being a great coach!!
