i have this idea and wanted to run it by this community.

i've been making music professionally since 2007 and have amassed a quite sizable music catalog. i've recently been approached by some traditional music catalog investment firms that offered to buy me out.

this is somewhat common these days, but not at the eye watering levels of bob dylan and bruce springsteen.

i know a lot of people will always tell you to hold on to your masters/pub, and while that's true for some, it's also freeing in other ways to let things go and move forward creatively. personal reasons aside, liquidity is also freeing, obviously.

what if instead of selling to a traditional firm, i could form a private DAO around the assets (accredited only obvs) to steward them into the future?

the thought here is that there's more malleability and creativity on the table.
cc0? let's try it!
nfts? no problem.
new forms of media? absolutely.
the assets themselves generate income, so it could be cash flow positive from day 1.

all things that will basically never happen with a traditional firm.

the DAO structure around an artist always felt a bit weird, but perhaps building one around assets could be interesting. This also doesn't mean it could stop at RAC related assets, there's so much catalog out there that's available. It could almost be this unlocking of the entire category.

perhaps this is a first step for @nounsrecords ?

these are just some scattered thoughts around this, but am curious what CT thinks.
