@aomenya I've never understood why the Kenyan voter always goes for the worst candidate then turns around and cries wolf...we need to be honest with ourselves as Kenyans. The mess in this country is our own making and we are the only ones who can liberate ourselves.
Kenyan Presidential Aspirant Martha Karua’s Detention in Uganda Turns Into A Test For East Africa
For years, East African leaders have spoken about regional integration, free movement, cooperation and building a community where borders matter a little less and shared values matter a little more. It sounds impressive at conferences, looks great in official communiqués and always earns applause when cameras are rolling.
That is why many people were surprised when Kenyan lawyer, former justice minister and presidential aspirant Martha Karua reportedly landed in Uganda only to be denied entry and detained at the airport while attempting to observe legal proceedings involving opposition figures. Suddenly, the conversation moved from grand speeches about unity to a much simpler question. If a prominent lawyer from a neighbouring East African country cannot freely enter to observe matters relating to justice, then what exactly happens to all those beautiful promises once they reach the immigration desk?
Today, the state of regional integration and rule of law within the @jumuiya has been tested. It is unfortunate that partner states continue to undermine the fundamental principles that are intended to make the EAC a safe, free and open bloc of states with shared ideals and visions.
The malicious denial of @MarthaKarua from entering into Uganda is not just an affront to regional intergration, it is a brazen attack on justice and the rule of law. Such draconian acts of political repression have no place in modern society, and call to question the preparedness of partner states to adopt the democratic values that are required to make the EAC a truly free society
We express our utmost solidarity with SC and affirm our preparedness to support her continued agitation for equal enjoyment of rights across the EAC borders. No form of intimidation can defeat the shared resolve of the people of East Africa to stand up for their rights and for one another.
When a state deports the defense lawyer before the trial even begins, the verdict has already been delivered.
The denial of entry to Senior Counsel Martha Karua at Entebbe International Airport isn’t an administrative hiccup. It is a deliberate, structural message sent directly to Dr. Kizza Besigye’s defense team, the public, and the bench itself: "Do not expect justice. Might is right."
Here is the uncomfortable reality we must confront:
🔁1️⃣: The treason and "misprision" charges are merely surface-level theatre. The true crisis lies in the complete bypass of the legal architecture.
🔁2️⃣: The courts aren't leading this process; they are watching from the window. The actual prosecution is being executed by actors operating entirely outside judicial jurisdiction, at airport gates and border controls.
🔁3️⃣: Frustrating a bail application through unconventional, extra-legal means proves that the state fears a fair fight inside the courtroom. When you cannot defeat the argument, you deport the arguer.
This goes beyond a single trial or a single politician. When the state uses its borders to police the boundaries of a defense team, it signals the collapse of judicial autonomy. The courtroom ceases to be an arena of law and becomes a stage for performative power.
The defense didn't just lose a lawyer at Entebbe. The system lost its mask.

Today’s vote at the National Assembly for or against the 2026 Finance Bill is a defining moment for the people of the Republic of Kenya.
At the end of the day, the people of Kenya will know whether their elected representative supports measures that oppress them more or cares for them.
Our @DCP_Democracy allied members have instructions to vote against the Finace Bill 2026 and stay in the House to force a Division. The People Kenya must know who is for or against them.
Those members who keep away from the vote and sit on the fence must deemed to be against the people of Kenya.
They must make up their mind to be with the people or against them. There is no neutral position when the welfare of the people of Kenya is at stake.
You are either for the people of Kenya or against them.
Spot on! 💯 The systematic avoidance of Till/Paybill numbers in Eastleigh ensures billions stay entirely off KRA's radar. Local formal retailers are choked by over-regulation and eTIMS compliance while a massive shadow economy operates with absolute impunity. The unlevel playing field is ruining genuine manufacturers and importers. 🚨🇰🇪
We have said before that once you close the Somali border and mitigate loses of ta through smuggled sugar, rice, flour and oil you close one gap.. Then go to second issue of money ensure all Mpesa withdrawal till numbers are automated for audit then you have a circle line district where Mpesa with a certain area maybe business are subject for scrutiny then we are somewhat in equal competition level. Then Tax.
