Frederic, Lord Leighton (1830–1896), painted The Painter’s Honeymoon around 1864. The intimate scene depicts a young artist at work as his wife leans affectionately against him, their hands gently intertwined.

After disappearing from public view following 1878, the painting remained largely forgotten until it resurfaced at a London auction in 1981. It highlights Leighton’s exceptional ability to capture the textures of fabric, especially the shimmering folds of the woman’s satin dress.

Today, The Painter’s Honeymoon is part of the collection at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.
