New: Andy Burnham looking to create “Number 10 in the North” as part of big devolution drive, shifting some operations to Manchester

Great to welcome the newest member of the PLP, my friend Andy Burnham, to Parliament.
He'll be a brilliant representative for the people of Makerfield, and I am sure he will quickly make his mark in this place!
Keir has given huge service to our country and I want to thank him for his leadership and dedication during such a challenging period.
His decision marks the beginning of a transition and it is important that this process is conducted in an orderly and responsible way. I will put myself forward as part of this process.
The country expects stability, seriousness and a continued focus on the issues that matter most and that is what it will get.
As we move forward, our priority must be to work together to get the country back to where we all want it to be. People want to see progress on economic growth, cost of living, public services, housing and opportunities for the next generation. Political change should never distract from the responsibility to improve people's lives.
The Labour movement has always been at its strongest when it looks forward with confidence and purpose. This is what we will do from here and we will make sure this transition is a positive process of renewal for our party and our country.
I am deeply alarmed by the immediate and escalating risk of new atrocities in Sudan.
We have pushed the UN Security Council to agree unanimously that the RSF assault on El Obeid must stop, that civilians must be protected, and that there will be no impunity for the perpetrators of war crimes.
I’ve met survivors of previous atrocities, now camped at the Sudan border. We cannot let this happen again.
I am horrified by news of the attack in Edinburgh.
I am grateful to the police and emergency services for their bravery in apprehending the suspect and for their speedy response in attending to the victims.
The suspect appears to be motivated by anti-Muslim hatred.
There is no place for hatred and violence against Muslims. I know it is not who we are as a country.
ANDY BURNHAM is a Labour and COOPERATIVE politician.
He will be only 2nd Lab & Coop PM (after Ramsay MacDonald).
The COOPERATIVE bit is ignored by political analysts - cos they have no idea what it means? It’s a radically different way of viewing governing and political economy
5 million people in the UK could be living with dangerously high blood pressure and have no idea.
Get your blood pressure checked out.
You can go to your local chemist for a test. You could avoid a stroke like what hit me.
And here’s some piano which is helping my recovery
Reports of an imminent major offensive on El Obeid Sudan are incredibly alarming. The RSF must pull back immediately. All parties must urgently de-escalate, allow civilians to leave safely, and let aid in. Too many lives have been lost in Sudan. This offensive must stop now
We are missing Jo Cox for the contribution she would have made to British public life over the past ten years, but her words still resonate. There is so much we can do to bring communities together and to support each other as we remember the impact of Jo's life.
It’s hard to believe it’s 10 years since my friend, the amazing, Jo Cox was murdered. I will never forget that moment nor the time after it. It’s still hard to compute. That such a positive, impactful, caring, inclusive woman could be taken in that way for doing her job as an MP, still shocks.
The way in which her family and friends ensure that her values still shine brightly today and her legacy is stronger than ever, is a testament to Jo and what she stood for.
Today more than ever, we should remind ourselves of those values and continue to be “a bit more like Jo”.

Roy Hattersley delivers a lecture on the importance of Coronation Street - to mark its 30th anniversary.
“Future historians will find no better way of learning about the way we live now”.
Today marks ten years since Jo was killed.
We remember Jo as a mother, sister, daughter, wife, friend, campaigner and public servant. We remember her courage, her compassion, and her belief that we have more in common than that which divides us.
