The World Cup has turned America into a discovery channel for the rest of the world.
And they are not handling it well.
In the best possible way.
Here is what they are discovering:
Free public restrooms. Europeans pay every time.
Free water at every restaurant. Just appears.
Free refills. Coffee. Sodas. Iced tea. Unlimited.
Free chips and salsa before you even order.
Free warm bread with dinner.
Ice in drinks like civilized people.
Air conditioning everywhere. Not a moral debate. A fact.
Parking lots attached to the actual place you are going.
Drive throughs where the food comes to the car while you sit in it.
Ranch dressing by the gallon.
Tex-Mex that cannot be explained only experienced.
Dental care that actually works.
Buccee’s. There are no words for Buccee’s.
Then they found the grocery stores.
Five of them within one mile.
Each one the size of an aircraft hangar.
Burgers. Steaks. Brisket. Ribs. Pulled pork. Lamb. Veal. Every cut of every animal ever domesticated by human civilization available in one refrigerated aisle at ten in the morning on a Tuesday.
The Germans stood in the meat section for forty five minutes.
In silence.
Processing.
They finally understand why we do not have trains.
We have roads wide enough for the cars we actually drive.
Parking lots the size of small European countries.
Airports in every city worth visiting.
Why would we need trains.
The Germans are taking ranch home by the bottle.
The Dutch found queso and briefly lost the ability to speak.
The Japanese are photographing HEB like it is the Louvre.
The Czechs are weeping in West, Texas.
Welcome to America!
The greatest country on earth.
Big recruiting weekend in Knoxville 🍊
Tennessee hosted several key targets this weekend, and the buzz is real. Here’s my breakdown from a Vols perspective, with what other programs are saying + what the kids themselves are signaling publicly.
1. Asa Barnes (4⭐ RB, Westview HS – in-state)
Asa was in Knoxville this weekend and posted “GBO🍊??” + “📍Knoxville🍊 #GBO” right before/during the visit.
That’s not subtle.
Tennessee has home-field + relationship advantage. Arkansas is pushing hard with a big NIL bag and he’s visited there too. But the recent energy from Asa points heavily toward the Vols. I’d be surprised if he doesn’t end up in orange.
2. Niko Kampas (4⭐ OT, NFL Academy – international)
The big German/English tackle took his official to Rocky Top this weekend. Vols are connecting him with former NFL Academy guy Luca Wolf.
Other side: He posted very positively after Michigan’s OV (“Go Blue!”) and Auburn also hosted him and made a strong impression (especially with fellow German OL Wilson Zierer). Michigan and Auburn are real here, but Tennessee’s staff has been building this one steadily. International kids often value development + relationship — Vols have a shot.
3. Miller Westerfield (OT, Roswell GA)
Georgia kid who is down to Tennessee + LSU as the clear top two (Georgia still hanging around too).
He felt “comfortable” on his Tennessee visit per reports. LSU just hosted him and is pushing hard with OL coach Eric Wolford. Georgia wants him to stay home and hosted him officially.
This one feels like a true three-way battle. Tennessee has momentum from the visit comfort level, but it’s far from locked. LSU feels like the biggest threat right now.
4. David Gabriel Georges (“DGG” – 5⭐ RB, Baylor School)
The biggest fish. Tennessee has the lead on comfort/culture per multiple insiders. He’s staying in Chattanooga training and the Vols have built a real relationship (De’Rail Sims connection is huge).
Counter: Ohio State is still viewed by many national guys (Wiltfong etc.) as the favorite and expected to make another big push. Some reports say the race is basically down to UT vs OSU now.
DGG’s own posts have been positive on multiple visits, but nothing super recent screaming one way. July 22 announcement date is still the target. Vols have a real shot here — maybe the best shot they’ve had at a true 5-star RB in a while.
Overall vibe:
Tennessee is competing at a high level across the board this cycle. The staff is getting these guys on campus and making them feel wanted. Not every battle will go our way (recruiting never does), but the energy around several of these names is trending positive for the Vols.
Asa Barnes feels like the closest to a lean right now based on his own posts.

Ah yes, the classic socialist ‘fair share’: I pay what I feel like, you pay whatever funds my utopia.
If the rich just ‘paid their taxes,’ you’d pay nothing?
Buddy, the government spends like it’s got a Black Amex and a drinking problem. Even if every billionaire tithed their yacht, we’d still be trillions in the hole.
The cruelty isn’t asking productive people to pay their way. It’s pretending the rest of us don’t ride the system while demanding they build more of it.
@zachTNT@vol_hype I don’t know how we make it work, but adding several in state kids that want to play for the team they love feels like a good move, even if they don’t bring a lot of rating ⭐️’s with them.
Let’s not forget that a judge (part of the American judicial system) with unequivocal clear bias used his position of authority to kick this mess off. If we can’t trust a judge to make a sensible objective decision over college football eligibility in this situation, how can we expect them to also uphold our constitution and laws?
