The EU #RenovationWave strategy sets out measures across the renovation chain 🏗️ that aim to increase the rate & depth of renovations.
It covers further areas, such as
🔹 targeted funding
🔹 skilled workers

Heat pumps work when it's cold.
Our research shows: In fact they are much more efficient than fossil fuel systems even at sub-zero temperatures.

"Why are electricity prices so high if renewables break generation records and are so cheap?" I have been asked.
The main reason: Gas still sets the price 63% of the time in wholesale electricity markets in EU27 & >90% in some countries.

Finnish district heating is electrifying so fast now, 200 MW of electric boilers and 1000 MWh thermal storage announced to be commissioned by 2026/27 in Helsinki https://t.co/JsOXVLht3W
🇪🇺 At least 60% of heat pumps sold in Europe are also produced here. And this is set to increase.
🏭 There are now over 250 manufacturing sites in Europe and the sector employs around 160.000 people directly.

I have often said that decarbonising heat is the biggest challenge of the energy transition in cities, but this new report from @BPIE_eu makes the case that climate adaptation and resilience could be the most urgent challenge.

This is the largest heat pump in the world (60MW).
It is located in Esbjerg, DK and provides heating for 100,000 people.
The heat pump replaced coal-fired thermal generation using Denmark's electricity which is 2/3 from wind and solar.
Excited to represent @EU_ScienceHub at the #EUSEW2024 next week!
Will join an impressive panel to discuss energy poverty governance and share some insights from an upcoming report covering the impacts of the new ETS for buildings and the potential of the Social Climate Fund
