@jacobtechtavern You mentioned switching screens from SwiftUI to UIKit. Any technical reason not to go all in on UIKit?
@fromjrtosr's posts have me considering the switch. I just hope Apple doesn't gatekeep features in the future...
Before AI, I’d plan the architecture of a feature or whatever I needed to build, put on some music, and start coding, knowing exactly what to do.
Now, I just need to plan because AI writes the code for me. And even... the planning has gotten easier.
As I go through our next SwiftFairy update, I’m reminded of one frequently forgotten SwiftUI gotcha that we see.
Every time we write to the environment, every single child view, recursively, that depends on any environment value, not just the one we write, must read all the environment values it depends on and check whether they have changed.
There is no per-key tracking of changes.
So DO NOT write to the environment from a view body that is frequently re-evaluated, as this will cause the framework to do a LOT of work.
We’re rebuilding Notion natively on mobile. It’s early, but here is how it feels now!
